Great signing. Welcome back Max. Watters, Norwood, Cole, Shaw and Dallas. Five vying for starting berth. Won't have to waste a loan up front now.
Completely agree. The continuity factor is huge as well, no assimilation required. He knows the drill and can hopefully hit the ground running. I’d take this season’s attacking options over what we finished last season with. We have genuine options, pace and goals.
Yep, I agree. I think we're at least a little stronger than our options up front last season and if one of these two click it's a real step up.
Agreed. Certainly helps with his and our preseason. Yeah, we are looking good in an attacking sense now. Another central defender in and I reckon we’ll be on for another good season.
Wouldn't surprise me if Shaw gets sent out on loan somewhere. Get some games and find his scoring boots
Two potentially decent signings today to bolster forward options. I’m guessing Iseka and Shaw will be loaned out now. Still need an experienced CH and a RWB.
So do I.. but we seem very competitive up front with signing these two today. Shaw may like last season be lucky to get on the bench. Half season loan somewhere see how he does. May be best around. Scotland somewhere maybe a option
I think we have a decision to make with Jalo and Marsh too and these options should allow us to give them game time away from Oakwell, even if it’s just a short term deal where we can reassess in January.
We've plenty in midfield too. Defence has been identified as an area for concern too but we have Lopata, Shepherd, Kitching, Cundy, McCarthy, Williams, Cadden, Cotter and potentially continental and O'Keefe. Yeah it's ok bringing somebody in but you'd say someone will have to depart there too. You can only pick 18 players on a match day.
Central midfield also concerns me somewhat as we do lack strength in depth given the injuries to Benson and Wolfe. Russell was very highly rated but didn’t do himself justice last season despite being a talented player. I’d hoped that a good preseason would do him the world of good but it seems like he has been on international duty for the majority of it.
Absolutely. I feel like it’s make or break for Marsh this season and Jalo is an unbelievable talent so it doesn’t do them or us any favours in having them languishing in the 23s with very limited competitive senior football.
I wonder if Russell was a Duff recommendation. Given his departure from Udders was a little acrimonious by all accounts at the time. Bad influence in the dressing room. Hoping to get that sorted and out of him. He definitely has ability. Let's hope hes not another that wastes it.
