To cover the two Dee dars clubs summer training? What a waste of licence payers money. Free holiday for the presenters all paid for by us.
How does any content business justify what they do? Because it draws in eyes & clicks both at home & abroad.
Clearly they've determined their presenters being there will make better content for the people they're making it for. Can't say I could argue with that?
It's there to compete with commercial businesses for your time. If they didn't create content people wanted, nobody would watch/listen/read & ultimately it would cease to exist. It'll be costing c£10k max to send someone out to get exclusive content, images, interviews etc to inform & entertain a large proportion of their audience.
It is not exclusively a Sheffield radio station. It is supposed to cover all South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire. It is paid for out of our Television Licence therefore it is duty bound to cover all of its area.
Seriously? Both Sheffield clubs promoted and starting a league higher? There must be great excitement around Hillsborough and Bramall Lane. And there's a station called Radio Sheffield? I'd have another go if I were you ST!
I'm pretty sure if we'd been promoted to the Premier League or had a fan base the equivalent of Wednesday then they'd follow us to Spain, too. In your argument, why aren't they covering Barnsley Ladies? Or giving Sheffield Eagles the same airtime as us?
Someone once told me that the stations justification for covering Sheffield issues disproportionately to the rest of South Yorkshire was the population size of the city as opposed to them being t.wats
In fairness, it does call itself Radio Pigpoo. So you would expect them to push the boat out whenever one or both of 'their' clubs have won promotion. However, it's still unprofessional and ignorant of them to show hardly any interest in the other local clubs.
I'll never forget their fanboy attitude in 2016 when we got into the Play Offs, after overcoming probably the biggest points deficit from Christmas, and winning it. Oh wait... now i remember, we embarrassed Sheffield Untied to get there plus the blue Fritzls lost their Play Off campaign. Silly me
It's their last hurrah before local radio goes the same way as local television and becomes Leeds based.
I don’t see a problem with this at all. They’re there to cover Wednesday and United and it won’t have cost much.
Then it becomes amateur level coverage that youtubers will do just as well, if not better. The difference local radio and news outlets have is their access and professional quality.
