Not sure aout the 6 million though I won't argue your estimate but for certain Conway set the club back five years minimum. I hope ge gets his comeuppance. You'd hope the EFL will never let him near a football club ever again.
When conman and Lee took over the club wasn't skint we had just sold Connor winnall and Bree and stones had gone to city giving us a 7.5million windfall.
I'm not sure how you conclude that we can run at the lower end of L1 without owner input - last season we operated a middling playing budget we're told and yet the owners still had to put £6m in even after fees received for Brittain, Morris, Woodrow etc so nowhere near sustainable at the lower end of L1. Even if the playing budget was cut to £0 then we wouldn't be breaking even in L1 (and would be relegated to L2 and beyond) with gate receipts likely falling too. I know some people think parsimony is the way forward but I've yet to see a successful business that became so by perpetually getting smaller, either in absolute terms or relative to its competitors. I think our more sensible owners know this from their own enterprises and I'm still hopeful that they'll work out that a modicum of investment in the right areas at the right time is the way to get back to the Championship and the chance of running on a more even keel.
it's easy to add fees up like that, most of which we probably didn't receive on one go. What about if Cryne hadn't sold the club in December, do you think that would have been left in the kitty at the end of the season? Look at the clubs accounts leading up to 2017, having to put money in most seasons to break even. The sales of Potts, Pinnock, Lindsay and Moore got as much as that lot. Whichever way you try and dress it up we've been losing money for years, years before the current owners came on board.
I remember the don telling us in one forum whilst he was counting the pennies on a daily basis, one year we actually made a profit. Was only about 50k or so. But it was a profit
Remember making a profit in the FA Cup Semi final year but l thought it was more than 50k. So we may have had a couple of seasons in the last 20 years
Well I was originally going to say League 2 level. The point remains that we need the plan of Cryne and the subsequent owners of developing and selling at a profit won't work unles you are incredibly and unrealistically successful at it. If we get back to the Championship I don't see how that's sustainable either. Yes tv rights etc add in a about 6 million but other costs must rise in line too. The landscape has totally changed in the last few decades. It seems just about the only way to succeed is to cheat.
So when, Conway and Lee are outed after this investigation and their shares are up for grabs. Khalid will reveal that his big news is that those investors from Azerbaijan (l think it was) that he went to visit the other year and were photographed holding up the shirt, are buying them - will we all be happy?
Lets all go monty pythons, Always look on the bright side of life, a lot of doom an gloom in the ranks, an i reckon we could all do with a lift. C,O,Y,R.
Albania... Don't think anyone can force them to sell their shares unless they are linked to Russian sanctions. Hopefully they'll want to sell the shares to pay the fine and someone will want to buy them. Kid Super would be my choice. We can have awesome kits every year then.
Doesn't like spending it. Odd million (pennies in his world) to wild life causes. But leaving none of it to his kids apparently. Bought em houses. But have to build there own lives. He was allus said to be turned down for a place on the board. But it was a rumour to satisfy those who didn't want to watch tarn and be their excuse. Never interested. Read John Dennis's Biography.
The fella is a far right twunt who would rather fund ukip than help or give anything to his kids. Worth about £800million and plans to leave them nothing other than the house he’s bought them. Nothing wrong with wanting your kids to make their own way but it’s a special kind of arse that won’t even leave them anything in death - apparently plans to leave it to a mixture of ‘charity interests and forwarding my political ideals’. Not the kind of fella I’d want involved in the club to be honest. And he’s past 80 now so I doubt he’d want any active involvement in a new venture anyway.
Think you’re referring to this… I asked members of the Supporters Trust to ask the CEO about this but never heard owt back!
The charges are... Well, there's 5, but they're all the same. The EFL are struggling to know what to do because almost every club is in exactly the same position. It's officially against the rules, but not really because that's how share holding works. We're pushing this because the board want rid of Conway and Lee. It's a brilliant move. And if we get sanctioned we then file documents about how such and such club has exactly the same structure. And we can do that about every club in the league. We broke rules that every club breaks, but we've made the EFL charge us because we want rid of past owners who won't go away.
