Indeed, but if it's really only £500k, that's still pretty negligent from the side of the club IMO. Would he really not have joined us if it was set at £1 million?
Wasn't Val's 2 million? Wonder why this one was so low? Suppose it reflects the division we're in I guess.
Who ever the person is that replies to JAQ to get Scott Brown in, please get in contact. I would like a little face to face chat with you.
Is it like being in a house buying chain? Swansea got less than they thought for their compo so we've got less as well?
It’s pretty clear to me what she’s saying,,,,Michael just f**k off and when you get there f**k off from there too, then f**k off some more, keep f**king off until you get back here, then f**k off again.
Every contract has a buy out clause whether explicit or not. When the boot is on the other foot the club pay up contracts to off load players. Once a manager has been tapped up and wants to leave they will. The contract allows the club to get compensation. The size of the pay out will, in the main, be reflective of the salary and the time left on the contract.
Would suspect both Val & Struber would have been on more than Duff and as Archerfield said that would reflect in buy out fee.
You’re looking at it the wrong way maybe. A clause can be used to guarantee a minimum amount. Managers can still go without clause - it then has to be negotiated or go to a tribunal to agree the amount instead. If a manager wants to leave, no club will block the move, as the relationship sours.
Yes but they put that clause in, or agreed to it. If a manager insists in that clause and you agree to that clause it can hardly come as a shock to the board who did it to find that the manager has used the clause because a. They knew the clause was there and b. They knew what kind of person the manager was because he's the kind of manager who insisted on the clause.
Agree it's like the .. get out of jail free card.. for me. Everyone should shrug their shoulders and move on. Don't ask any awkward questions. Which some are ok, carry on. But I'm kinda in the .. ah f'eck it, why bother camp.. Sorry for not being a better fan but it's becoming a bit tedious..
According to google, an average league one manager salary is £200k a year. If we paid Duff £250k a year and he had a 3 year deal, he had £500k left to buy out his contract. Was it an actual clause or just the ability for someone to buy out his contract?
that seems perfectly fair to me. All this ‘shoulda been 2m’ is just fantasy. We’re a division 3 club. We’re not Real Madrid. The top targets simply won’t accept such punitive clauses
There is the possibility that the club said we will only pay you X wages but compensate you with a Y release clause. It’s not a given that he insisted on it.
You're right, if she's talking about a clause in Duff’s contract then it makes no sense, for the exact reasons you've highlighted. Which makes me believe that's not what she's talking about.
