Apologies if I've said anything out of turn, only saw the highlights of the goals, no idea who Alex Brooker was until just googled him now
I don't know. Ordinarily, I'd agree but hasn't he made a career out of self-deprecating jokes about his disabilities? He's a comedian and I'm pretty sure his view is that pretty much anything is fair game. I reckon he, or his mates, would make that joke and laugh about it.
If Alex Brooker makes fun of his disabilities, that's fair enough. If anyone else does it, in my opinion it's bang out of order.
Making fun of himself on Last Leg etc I get but someone mocking his disability is crossing the line. This poster has been pulled up for his misogynistic post so why should his comment about a disabled comedian be seen as acceptable?
Totally agree, it is like black male comedians using the N word... doesn't mean it is fair game for everyone else to use it.
Dragon Tyke with his latest posts wouldn't have been out of place in the Wheeltappers and Shunters club.
To add some balance to the force, Brooker takes the piss out of everybody not just himself including how they look etc. So we can't wrap him up in bubble wrap because he has the label comedian. People are getting way over sensitive.
I can see Alex Brooker saying something similar on the intro to The Last leg! Big Arsenal and Blue fan!
As I mentioned above, what gives him the right to take the piss out of anyone else based on how they look etc?
Maybe you are right, but all I was saying was that based on what I've seen on The Last Leg, I don't think he would give a damn, and I think the message he and Adam Hills etc have constantly expressed is about being treated equally and that includes equal levels of piss-taking. They've very publically stated that joking about disability won't offend them, won't upset them and it's ok to talk about it. Alex Brooker very publicly supported Frankie Boyle over his Paralympic opening ceremony tweets, for instance (e.g. "Apparently the Saudi Arabian Paralympic team is mostly thieves"). Now I think it's probably a different argument whether the OP was taking any of this into account when he wrote the opening post and I guess there's a difference between celebrating something and finding the humour in it and straight out calling someone out for looking or being different.
