JALÓ STARS IN VICTORY FOR PORTUGUESE YOUNGSTERS Club News Our teenage striker continues to make an impact on the international scene. Continue reading on the official site...
Absolutely bang on. For me we need at least one more experienced striker that’s familiar with the league and I’d be more than happy to go into next season with 3 senior strikers in Norwood, Cole and whoever we can bring in and 2 or 3 from the youth sides learning off the older lads.
Spot on why keep them in the reserve teams and bring in loan players. Likes of Marshy Dyer Ackers will run thru brick walls to wear the red shirt . Jalo looks a class act
Great to hear Jalo doing well for Portuguese youngsters but still think we need to sign 2 strikers for next season. He’s still not physically up to mens L1 football yet for me.
Have you not seen Jalo recently, kid has definitely been on the weights. End of the day it’s league 1. If Conor Chaplin can get 25 goals in this league any one can. Loved Chaplin, but let’s be reight he’s built like that Hasbullah.
Have to admit I’ve not seen him since his first team cameos early last season. Definitely looked to have some talent but was too lightweight for me. Great to hear he’s looking stronger. Would love him to break through but pushing him too soon might ruin him.
For me he should be getting loaned out to National League level. Have a season of ‘men’s football’. The age group stuff simply doesn’t get them ready for the rigours of League one footy.
Nah not for me, we’ve all just seen tonight what giving young players a chance can do in John Stones. He’s basically now completed club football at 29 and he started that journey by getting his chance in the Barnsley first team as a teenager.
Get what you’re saying but John Stones was physically strong enough as an 18 year old to play regular first team football. Not sure that Jalo is. Plus by playing at full back he wasn’t getting kicked around by big centre halves like Jalo would be.
Conor Chaplin isn’t physically strong, he scored 26 goals in league one this season. No one is saying play Jalo week in week out, just give him a proper chance and let him thrive off playing with an experienced striker like Norwood rather than loaning in players and developing them for their parent clubs. There’s not just Jalo though if you’re worried about his physical capabilities, there’s other young strikers at the club in Marsh and Dyer.
We won’t win promotion supplementing Norwood and Cole with Jalo, Dyer and Marsh……sorry but we just won’t.
Signing 2 strikers would mean we have 5, plus the young uns. It would be difficult to keep all five happy in a team that plays two up top.
Hence why I said earlier in this thread we need another experienced striker. Then go into next season with 3 experienced strikers and 2/3 young strikers promoted from the youth sides. IMO Jalo, Dyer and Marsh would’ve all done a lot better than Tedic and Watters had they been given as much chances as them 2.
Have to disagree, he looked really good in the paint trophy playing against men. 2 well taken goals against donny. If your good enough your old enough. I'm not saying he should be rushed into the 1st team and play week in week out at 17. But if duff decides he can help the team from the bench I'd be happy with that. Would probably put himself about abit more than watters did.
