Not just him that that was part of the collusion to wreck our chances on Monday. Don’t forget Tony Harrington too who didn’t have the balls to make him double check the calls. I never realised until Monday that VAR can be utilised to shape a narrative.

My 1st thought when VAR was announced for all play off finals was that they would be using group 1 officials. Officials that use VAR week in week out in the premier League, so was very surprised when they appointed officials from group 2 who have little to no experience of using it. Just doesn't make sense for them to do that but it is the EFL we are talking about

A few Wednesday fans commenting thanking him. They know they got lucky, not even hiding it

Read an interesting article the other week about VAR written in its early days.
Basically it was around a review on why it was so poor at the last Women’s World Cup.
The overriding conclusion was that it was only announced 6 months before and it didn’t give the officials enough time to get used to it as most/none were using on a regular basis if at all!!

Now if FIFA had 6 months and was deemed not enough time how was a couple of weeks for the playofffs enough?

Finally had the guts to watch back the itv highlights programme from the final and it made me feel even more pissed off. My anger is not against Wednesday although the over the top reaction to Phillips challenge on Windass by some of their players was embarrassing its more the obvious denial of the penalty and the refusal to watch it again on the pitch side monitor by Robinson that’s baffling. I would love to know the reasoning behind the decision and to explain why in Var’s opinion contrary to every pundit on the day including ex Wednesday player Clinton Morrison that Gregory’s challenge wasn’t a foul .

I’m pretty adamant and my view will always be had that decision been in the other pen box he would have told the ref to go look at it.

Still can’t believe the ref fell for all their theatrics but he did but that we will see worse tackles this next season that don’t even end up getting a yellow. It was Gregory’s reaction that did it. Notice seconds later he’s up and joking about it too.

Yep, Gregory down clutching his head and the shin that didn't get hit. While Windass shouts in the refs face. It was just a sidefoot challenge, that he overstretched for.

Exactly this. Group 2 refs and assistants are not experienced enough to use VAR so either it shouldn't have been used or Group 1 officials should have been brought in

After watching the pen incident back especially from the reverse angle it is very very difficult to make any kind of case for the VAR officials' if you asked a 5 year old child what happened it would say "the mr in blue has kicked the mr in red" unfortunately it seems very sinister and very bad for the game.

Like i say what’s done is done and we didn’t go up but I’m just curious as to know what Robinson and var saw that us and the pundits didn’t surely we deserve that.

Had an email back today from efl as i complained at ref and var. They said neither refs decisions were clear and obvious. What a crock of **** the the pen was both clear and obvious the ref had misses it. Var isnt fit for purpose.

Tony Harrington is Group 1 and an experienced VAR operative. Tim Robinson has refereed 2 or 3 Greed League games this season and is expected to be promoted to Group 1 any day now.
The real problem for me is this stupid obsession with the 'clear and obvious mantra'. To me, expecting a referee to make decisions without giving him a chance to see what VAR has seen is like asking a judge to rule on a case without seeing all the evidence.
If VAR has seen something that the ref hasn't, or might not have, seen then they MUST show it to him. If the overriding objective of VAR isn't to right obvious wrongs regardless of whether they were clear and obvious, then bin it because it's worthless.
