Not a penalty? Not a red card? The records will show it was (both counts). Irrelevant now. It's gone. Where does BFC go from here?

Michael Duff has shown his quality this season. He has arguably had us over-achieving. He is stating his loyalty to the project as things stand. But things change. I think it's highly unlikely he won't receive a better offer this summer. He deserves to test himself at a higher level. And at 45 he is probably at or beyond the mid-point of his career in football. And then there is his family to consider. The decision on his replacement will be crucial.

I think that Connell and Williams will attract bids. Barry Thomas and Isted are likely to have better offers in the light of their performances this season. If I were Khaled, the person I would build around is Mads. Confirm him as captain, and push the boat out to keep him and build the next squad around him. I'm not talking the full Bannan, but we need to make it very attractive for him to stay. I don't think he's a Stones or a Pinnock, but he is getting better, and he's worth investing in. He can be the centre of the next push for promotion. If we can somehow keep any of the above-mentioned players I'd be very pleased. But we really ought to be pushing the boat out to keep Mads. He can be a Barnsley legend.

What would constitute a better offer? If he gets the assurances he wants to build on this season, who will come in, be willing to pay the release fee and provide him with a better platform than the one he has setup himself? His record suggests he likes a bit of stability himself.

If he doesn't get the assurances, then it's another matter.

Seen back the highlights. The miss by Luca that would have probably got us promoted, was almost as bad as the Odejayi miss. It's such a cruel game is Football.

We have the Odejayi Kitchen. We were so peed off the day after that semi-final that the next day we threw ourselves into ordering a new kitchen! So we still thank Big Kayode! :D

It was a bad miss, but looking at the replay I’m not sure it was the gilt edged chance some made it out to be. I couldn’t see it properly in real time as defenders were in my line of sight, I expected to see the replay to see a tap in from bang in front. Was he even within the width of the goal?

That said, he should’ve hit the target and the miss kick made it look even worse. But I still think that Thomas should’ve taken it onto his right foot, where he would have been clean through.

He won't be here next season. If anyone goes it's him.

There was a social media post of his about a month ago where one of his friends commented that he couldn't wait to see where he would be next season. I don't think the inference was Championship or League 1.

Sorry, showing my age there! Barrie Thomas (correct spelling) played for us up to 1968, when I first went to Oakwell. Between 1966 and 1968 he scored 19 goals in 43 games for us but retired in '68 due to injury. Add in his previous clubs and his tally was a staggering 211 goals from 338 appearances. It's been confusing me ever since Bobby signed on loan for us! :)

Re Connell miss.. been great this season wouldn't let one mistake blight the season.
Just a shame Cadden had gone off. It's just where he would have been.. heyho fine margins

Mads is going. Got to be realistic. What can we pay him as a league one club? 5 maybe 6,000 a week? Big wages for us, but what can he get in the championship? Marc Roberts got over £10,000 a week from Birmingham back in 2017.

Even if we get promoted next season & run his contract down I can’t see us going over £8,000 a week & if we wait it out he’s got the freedom to sign elsewhere from January 2024.

We either sell him or lose him for nothing. I think it’s wishful thinking at best to expect him to stay.

    I think he'll stay in L1 with Wigan, on £25k a week.
