I remember the first XI playing a couple of One Dayers there back in the murky mists of time. B&H Cup I think.
Also remember finishing school at Holgate and going next door to watch a young Bill Athey making a name for himself in a second XI county match.

I remember the B&H cup games. One of them was against a combined Oxford/Cambridge side and we got stuffed.

Yes. You're right! I'd forgotten it was them we played.

Remember sitting in a temporary stand near the tennis courts. It was bloody freezing.

I'm pretty sure I was there too. Obviously can't remember much about it.
My Dad used to take me to Shaw Lane regularly on Friday nights to see the local league knockout matches.
It was a nice cricket ground back then. I went back about seven years ago and was really disappointed in how it looks now, especially with that god awful red brick box that's the, well I hesitate to call it a Pavilion.

The Friday night games were the Rose Bowl for local village sides. 15 x 8 ball overs, the original T20 lol. I used to go as a kid with a mate and then played in it a couple of times for Dodworth in the early 80s. Happy days :)

Used to go and watch my Uncle, Ernest Morris, bowl sometimes. I forget who he played for but he was a pretty good fast bowler at the time. Fish and chips in newspaper from Summer Lane on the way home. That would be back in the early seventies.

I grew up on Shaw Street and remember my uncle taking me up to one of those games. There was a decent crowd too, as I remember it.

Are you going up to it mate? I’m back to being a nurse at the moment, as my daughter had an operation yesterday, but if she’s feeling a bit better on Thursday I might have a wander up there
