I like the bloke. Think we are back on track with him. My hatred of Conway is unsurpassed. We were on the brink of getting it on to quote George Clinton. After that we went Wet Wet Wet.

A very uplifting and positive article. I have hope for the future. I believe we are in good hands; not just the CEO, but the Board, Team Management, et al.

I have shared this link with non-BFC supporting friends, who all responded positively.

Good interview but a few things stick out.

Cladding fell off one of our ageing stands. What? The west stand is only 30 years old. By football standards it's not ageing at all. More than half the stands in England are older than it.

We usually only sell 6000-6500 season tickets according to the interview but unless I'm mistaken don't we pretty much always sell far more than that?

The together red shirt sponsorship thing saw us partner with several charities aimed at showing Oakwell is a safe place for all genders sexualities etc. Eh? Didn't we partner with rapid response telecoms, athletic brewery and Barnsley hospice?

The club did it's due diligence about hex but fans immediately discovered their dodgy behaviour. Well I'm sorry Khaled mate but if Dave in twitter can discover what they're like within a few hours of the sponsorship being announced then no you didn't do your due diligence. You just didn't. Or not well enough anyway.

However it's not all doom and gloom as most of these seem like poor journalism than anything else and if the rest of the article is accurate it sounds like improvements have been made in quite a few areas across the club which can only be a good thing

Must say, he's got some very radical business ideas.

Barnsley FC are in the business of selling tickets for football matches. For the major event of the season, the end of year hurrah, an ideal opportunity to sell all tickets at Oakwell, he chose to make 4,000 of them unavailable. He hasn't done anything else with them, the seats will simply remain empty. In doing so he has voluntarily limited the income of the business.

As an added to bonus to reducing turnover, these actions also prompted our opposition in the end of season play-offs to reduce the number of tickets available to loyal customers of Khaled's business, from around 5,000 to just over 2,000, when Bolton entertained Barnsley at their place of business. This resulted in 3,000 fewer Barnsley fans having the opportunity to enjoy a major date in the club's history.

The reason for this decision: "to provide a chance for as many Barnsley fans as possible to watch the game next Friday."
    https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/a...ion-for-play-offs-and-says-we-should-sell-out

However, there has been no increase to the number of tickets available to Barnsley supporters at Oakwell compared to all other home games this season, but tickets made available to travelling Barnsley supporters, all of which quickly sold out, were significantly reduced.

The business world watches with morbid fascination as to how this 'prevent your customers from purchasing your stuff' philosophy pans out.

Deliberately stopping fans enjoying watching their team in the play-offs just seems bizarre to me. And very wrong.

I was really critical of Khaled when he first came in. With good reason I think. There were some appalling gaffes. I've warmed to him a lot this season and getting Duff was excellent work. That said he must have had a hand in the Hex fiasco and it was the fans that drove fixing that.
The article, to me, is heavily airbrushing things but I suppose it makes good copy.
Like I say I've warmed to him but he also has the advantage of riding the feel good factor of a team that's won a lot of games at third tier level.
