No it isn't. Collect tickets at 9am but no fanzone, no kids clubs and turnstiles don't open till half 10 with awards given out at 11:30

Everywhere is shut so club must be swimming in money to not be bothered about approx 12k potential customers coming for midday. Because of the awkward kick off time, it's more likely than usual people would buy something pre game to eat, but we haven't got the fanzine open or food vans around like we've had in the past.

The national anthem is being forced on everyone so if you don't want to hear that turn up at 11:55 like many others will, which will mean less showing appreciation to the award winners.

Can hardly blame the club or volunteers for not opening the fanzone.
To do so would involve getting there very early.
There’ll be nowhere like 12,000 there, with many away for Bank Holiday, or electing to watch on Sky.
Of the ones attending the match how many realistically want/ need to eat / drink before 12 noon?
Listening to the National Anthem doesn’t stop anyone from watching the awards. No one is asking you to sing. Just ignore it.

So many are expected to collect tickets that they've got a special collection point set up outside the ground from 9am. I don't blame volunteers for not wanting to get up early but the club really should have something on to get people to spend money rather than collecting their tickets, leaving the ground and returning hours later just as the ref blows his whistle.

Are the catering facilities inside the stadium closed or something??
How many people are realistically collecting tickets at 9am, when there’s almost two weeks to the next game, and a postage option (plus the option now to assign to season card)?

The stadium is closed until half 10. You can collect your tickets at 9am from the kiosk built outside to cope with demand but the stadium is locked up for 90 minutes after. That's just terrible planning, it really is

Seems we keep appointing new folk to the commercial side of the club, but what's changed? Crazy that someone has to ask every match ..."is the fanzine open? "
It should just be open every game and everyone should know that. That is no criticism of the volunteers that currently run it, why should a "professional" organisation be relying on volunteers for its pre match catering and entertainment output.
A season where we've hugely over achieved everyone's expectations and there's nothing happening to celebrate that. Will there be anything happening Fri night on the second leg?

Is it? Why does anyone need to collect tickets or enter the stadium at 9am? I’d be questioning it if they were having to pay to staff the stadium unnecessarily. There is loads of time to collect play off tickets. I elected to get mine posted for ease. I just don’t see why there should be an urgency (for most people) to collect today.

I don't know. Maybe you should ask the club why they have arranged that. It's the club who have opened a special collection kiosk from 9am. It's the club who made it hard to load onto tickets and it's the club who chose to not open the stadium.

A lot of people have jobs so maybe that is why they'd collect at the weekend before a match

Looking at the sales map there's not a lot of seats barring singles dotted around, although a lot of space in the West. Of course that map doesn't allow for ST's who don't go.

I live out of town and work. I have never thought that pre match would be a good time to collect tickets, hence i get them posted.
However, the club does need to give options. Aside from not having digital tickets (which is possibly not the club’s fault), I don’t know what else they can do. If people think they must get their tickets today then there is the possibility of doing so.

You're completely missing my point fired.
Offering tickets for sale this morning = good
Not capitalising on that by offering food for sale = bad

Don’t think i missed your point at all. Why would the club cater beyond the concourses for a 12 noon kick off?!! Who (in numbers) do you expect to want to eat food before 12 noon?!! For a one off event it is simply not worth the club staffing such an occurrence for what will be a small number of people, when there are options inside the ground.

The ground was locked up. Fans were asked to collect tickets from 9am but we're then instructed to leave the area of the stadium and spend money elsewhere. If you think that's good business sense then ok we'll never agree.

Then again I think turning fans away at half time as they'd ran out of cold drinks was a bit piss poor too

Fans were given the option to collect tickets at that time. How many went at 9am? Thousands? If so maybe it would have been worth opening up the club earlier. My guess it wasn’t that many, and even so, how many would want to be inside the ground 2-3 hours before kick off? How many of those would have been inclined to have a drink at that time of the morning? Not many. So then you’re looking at people buying tea/ coffee. Who does that for three hours? There is no business sense in paying staff to be on hand in all the outlets of the stadium if it is only a handful of people.
The club could certainly do better with regards half time food, but then again I’ve never understood why people need to eat at a football match. I’d sooner eat at home / buy elsewhere.

Maybe not but there is sense in making sure that the fanzone is open, the kids club is open or at the very least that there is a burger van in the carpark selling bacon sandwiches.
Or of course we could just say thanks for coming, go away now and come back in an hour. Because that makes a lot more sense right

No sense at all in setting up the fanzone.
For the reasons already given - plus I think Gally has stated they could only license it for an hour or so.

Yes maybe a burger van - but again, would it be worth their while for a small number of people?
You make it sound like it was compulsory for people to turn up at 9am. It was an option.

It was an option to cope with the anticipated demand. The demand anticipated by the club, not by me, not by you. By the club. Now if the club anticipated such a demand that not only were tickets available to pick up from 9am but required an additional outdoor special collection area to cope with said demand then I'd say the club expected a big enough demand to sell bacon sarnies on a Sunday morning.

The pubs that opened early seemed to have quite a few people outside them and the town centre cafes were fairly busy for breakfast too. The club however didn't want any money. thats fair enough, we must be rolling in it.
