The catastrophic mismanagement of Wasps should be used as a model for how not to run a club.. How they have gone from owning their own ground in London to hawking themselves around the country and being in debt to the tune of £95m I really don't know... it takes a special kind of idiot or idiots to manage that.
I was thinking something else this morning. Castleford will be in favour of no promotion or relegation because predominantly other than last few seasons they've struggled being relegated themselves not so long since. Then there's market share. They have a monopoly on Super League product in the Pontefract area. If Featherstone were in the Super League the floating supporter or neutral has a choice. Reducing their share.
Yeah and one of the criteria was the grounds and every time it got brought up c@$ got their plans out,20 odd years later still no new ground,Wakefield same but they are finally doing ground up.
I remember the first round of licensing in 2008. Leigh weren't allowed to submit the Leigh Sports Village in their application. Despite the fact that it was built, and ready to play in the following season. Meanwhile Salford were able to play at the Willows, because they'd done some soil samples at the site where their stadium is now. Had the pleasure of standing in the West Stand at Belle Vue last Sunday. Made Hilton Park look like the Shangri-la.
If the basis of promotion and relegation in sport is settled anywhere than on the pitch - then that's not a sport. The treatment of Featherstone down the years has been nothing short of disgraceful and probably corrupt. My team Cas are having a torrid time of it this year. I've been down twice and we haven't put a point on the Board in those games. Thank God for L**ds and Wakey We'll probably get another thumping tonight but if, by the end of the season, we are bottom - tough - down we should go. Just one point on Wheldon Road - it is a fantastic ground/experience. What I would call a 'proper ground' I've been to 134 Football Grounds now and give me an Accrington, Rochdale, Portsmouth over the identikit rubbish that is Derby, MK Dons, Bolton, Stoke etc... every day of the week
I like the jungle actually, and I've enjoyed post office as well. More atmosphere than my team's ground anyway (Giants). Far too big.
I always say WR is a proper rugby ground, always said they should stay there and do it up,looks like it's finally going to happen- when who knows lol.
Yes at last, we/Hull Fc are back to winning ways, after beating Huddersfield today. That keeps us above my two neighbouring towns, Wakey and Cass.
Hopefully Leigh can beat Cas in a fortnight, the only current SL team that we've not beaten since summer rugby came in. The other was Leeds, who we'd not beaten for about 40 years before Friday.
Speaking of Cas... https://www.totalrl.com/castleford-...-available-for-super-league-fixture-at-leigh/
Nahh I write it as Cass, but without any class lol. And I like it how you write it like its a swear word.
Get in there, the mighty Black n Whites handed out a real trousers down style thrashing to Wigan last night lol. Ohh and Wigan are relegated at footy, I like saying that and I just thought I'd mention it again.
We were rooting for Hull against Wigin, can't stand either wigin teams, Hull fully deserved that win.
