I already knew that I was in Florida for the playoff final. With the release of the semi dates, I can’t even attend the home leg of the semi. We fly the morning of Saturday 20th. I wouldn’t mind but we didn’t even originally book these dates, it has been rearranged and pushed back a couple of times, originally covid and then due to work commitments from another family member. I did say when this was booked that if we were in the playoffs we’d miss something but was laughed at. My Mrs is pissed off with me for even being bothered but having renewed early last season and having already renewed for this, and having not got ballot tickets for the playoffs under Ismael, I feel absolutely robbed. The stepfather is a boro fan as well but gave his st up during covid and hasn’t had one since but he’d likely have been able to get final tickets should they get there.
Your wife can’t gatekeep feelings. You’re allowed to feel aggrieved but maybe don’t go on about it beyond the first few times as you can’t do anything about it. Failing that, I’ll go to Florida so the ticket isn’t wasted and you can watch us beat Sheff Weds
Careful I might take you up on that. My idea of fun isn’t spending 12k+ by the time we’ve done spends and food on a ‘holiday’ in which I’ll likely spend days upon days at Magic Kingdom etc! Oh well. I’m sure I’ll find it on tv or online somewhere.
Yeah I saw that afterwards. It did seem strange league one first legs are first of the three leagues to be played but second legs last, we shall see.
Honestly, you’ll have an amazing time! Florida isn’t that expensive when you’re there as there’s so many places competing for your money. The parks are as cheap/expensive as you make them. We bought a large, expensive, refillable drink to share (it’s really big and saves carrying multiple around) and refilled it regularly (no queues as the refill machine are everywhere) and then ate cheaper snack type foods (hot dogs, chips etc.) whilst there rather than full meals. Do go to Epcot for evening meals at least once though as the food is amazing! Other than the cost of booking everything before we went, we hardly spent anything whilst there. We don’t have kids though which would be a whole different ball game (load up on cheap American snacks from Walmart/7 Eleven to take to the parks with you to dish out and buy the super cheap imitation Disney stuff that’s for sale everywhere outside of the parks and only buy one or two ‘real’ things, the kids will never know).
Thanks JamDrop. Mine will know, they’re 15, 12 and 8! Thankfully the 15 year old won’t want much momento wise and he can buy his bloody own if he does! Suspect he’ll want more from the Kennedy centre. I know I’ll have a blast, seeing the kids have fun would be enough if not anyway. But I’m just kicking myself over the playoff situation.
We went to Disney at the end of a month road trip round the Deep South, so we were very close to the bottom of the budget by the time we arrived and took a picnic in with us! Slightly cheapskate thing to do, but needs must, and the avocados and grapefruits that we bought on the side of the roads in Florida were absolutely beautiful, and presumably healthier than most of the things I saw punters chomping on in the queues.
My wife’s birthday is on the date of the final, as it was when we beat Millwall. She came with me that time and we made a weekend of it but I don’t think she will fall for it a second time!!
I once returned early from a family holiday in Florida because we were playing Man Utd away in the Premiership. Sat in the home end. We lost ....ever so slightly. Divorce came through about a year later.
This turned out to be true. Seven or eight days between legs then nine days to the final. Unheard of. Suppose it gives time to sort out knocks etc. Doesn’t help me but might help the team I suppose.
It's strange that after having so many weeks of Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday games, that there's so much gap between play off games. No idea why the regular season couldn't have finished a week later.
