Kings of Leon playing Wrexham ground in summer, imagine how good it would be stage in front of Ponty end, any bands support the reds ?,think we would sell it out for right price

Fair play to Wrexham for milking it, but the only reason they’ve managed to pull that off is because of Reynolds. Can’t imagine there would ever be demand for it at Oakwell

Stage in front of West Stand surely, and then open the other three covered sides to fill the ground.

Be great to get worldwide big famous musicians perform at our stadium. Heck is Chesterfield and Donny can get the likes of Tom Jones, Elton John, Lionel Richie and The Killers performing, so I am sure we could put gigs on.

I wouldn't get too excited, in reality no one played there for years... The Killers did in 2022, but the others were 10 or 15 years ago.

Same reason they’re playing Chelsea in a pre-season friendly in the USA.

Can’t see us hosting a concert but there’s a good chance of a Callum Simpson fight been held there over the next few years

The local residents kicked off big time about a car boot taking place in the carpark and we're whining about traffic near a football stadium so I think they'd have a meltdown at the idea of a concert

I disagree to an extent. I'm not saying we'd pull someone as big as King's of Leon in, and that is down to who their owners are, but with the right management and an improvement to the facilities, I don't see why we couldn't hold something big.

Chesterfield have had big names play there in the past. So does the Donny dome.

100% would go to Oakwell to watch a band.
    Football venues I've seen em.
    Etihad
    Bell end rd.
    Wemberlee

    Other sporting venues
    Old trafford cricket ground
    Don valley

Of all those. it pains me to say
Bell end rd was the best.

Would have to be a band I like though. I am choosy.

The Dome though is an indoor arena that only holds about 2k.

I saw Bruce Springsteen at St James' Park (Newcastle) in 1984, there must have been 30,000 there. The stage was at the Gallowgate end and the other three sides were pretty full plus there were thousands standing on boarding on the pitch. The atmosphere was fantastic. So yes I'd love to see a big band playing at Oakwell. I'm not sure that many artists these days would attract that many people and those that could would probably play Manchester or Sheffield. For smaller artists a stage right in front of the Ponty might be feasible.

That's part of my point to be fair. It's such a small venue and yet, it's capable of attracting big names to play there. I saw Kasabian there about 10 years ago. Jimmy Carr and Chubby Brown are there later this year too.

If all 4 sides of Oakwell were fit for purpose, I don't see why we couldn't host something similar.

The club looked into it in the past. We had a conversation with Don Rowing about it when he was General Manager. With what the promoters wanted and the level of financial risk and potential damage to the pitch with the boards it was decided it wasn't a goer. That might be different these days. Ticket prices for such things have certainly increased more than the cost of inflation in the last few years but I'd guess the bands are seeing the lions share of that.
