Ipswich and Plymouth haven’t played too well by the sounds of things tonight and found a way to win. Wednesday I’m not sure about but none of the three have pulled any trees up, all managed an unconvincing 2-1 win. We wouldn’t have scored if we carried on playing until Saturday. Finishing fourth will be an achievement from where we were in summer. A huge one. As Duff himself has said, to score over eighty points after the summer and previous season we’d had cannot be knocked. But that is where we will finish. We aren’t good enough to catch those in front. And as someone who is out of the country at the end of May, that saddens me slightly.
Think Lincoln have only lost one at home this season and are draw specialists , we got the point , automatic was always a long shot .
Far too many long balls today and we never looked like scoring, very frustrating that we didn't mix it up and try to play around them a bit more.
However, we've not finished yet. As you say, we've performed well against top 6 opposition which bodes well for the play offs!
The most disappointing thing for me tonight, is that we didn't seem to change our approach at all, in the 2nd half. Just seemed to carry on doing all the things that didn't work in the first half. Didn't seem to be much of a Plan B at all tonight.
Makes me laugh all the people thinking making the Play-Offs will extend a good season. Bunch of bottle jobs that have f cuked up every one off game they've played in this season. I'll get but what about Sheff Wed home and away. Draws away at Ipswich and Bolton. Thrashing Derby at home and beating Wycombe away. Easy to chase when you're seven points adrift in easy street. Play-Offs are "one off" games and we haven't got a prayer. Blown automatic, lose in Play-Offs. Bristol sack Pearson. Duff FC UK's off back to Avon and we're back to square one.
Disappointing from both wing backs tonight, especially Larkeche going forward. Can't remember one cross from either him or Williams all night. Missed Cadden very much with his driving forward down the left, as Larkeche was ineffective in that regard.
Pathetic. If u play exeter x 2 and lincoln x 2 and get one point u dont deserve to go up. They will bottle playoffs.
It’s the recent away games that worry me for the play offs. I don’t even want to think about a potential final against Wednesday - it makes me feel sick.
I was beginning to think that perhaps we had brought Ismael back as an adviser given our last few matches have emulated that style.
Well we tried and it's hard to win at Lincoln. There are 3 other teams with a little bit more quality than us. Which I can live with, cos I expected this season to be a mediocre one. We have players who on their day can shine to a Championship level. But can also look like League 2 players on a bad day. We need Duff to polish them up for the playoffs. Make sure they're at their best. If we get through, I think a big Wembley pitch will suit us. If we get Derby in the play offs, I think we'll lose.
It does make you wonder what might have been had the Ipswich game gone ahead with the team riding high on confidence after beating Wednesday.
I've heard this from certain quarters recently and it's absolute garbage. Oxford 1 Barnsley 2 Portsmouth 1 Barnsley 1 Port Vale 1 Barnsley 3 Cheltenham 0 Barnsley 4 Bristol Rovers 0 Barnsley 0 Wycombe 0 Barnsley 1 Exeter 3 Barnsley 1 Burton 2 Barnsley 1 Forest Green 1 Barnsley 5 Lincoln 0 Barnsley 0 If that constitutes being 'rubbish away from home for ages', then we need to keep being rubbish more often! Last 10 away games: W5 D3 L2 Scored 18, conceded 9 (4 clean sheets) Even including the 2 losses, we've won 2, drawn 1 and lost 2 of the last 5. We've not been rubbish away from home for ages, nowhere near.
