Just read this Guardian article about Championship referees training at St George's Park. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/apr/14/pgmol-referee-training-camp-behind-the-scenes Some of them are doing the 3 Peaks in support of our old friend Gary Willard who has blood cancer.
I will never forget his utter incompetence in both games he reffed us that season, but at the end of the day it is just that, only a game, and I sincerely hope that he beats this horrible illness. He was a ***** ref, but he's still someone's husband, and quite possibly dad and grandad.
Two things unconnected for me tbh. Obviously wish him the best, as I would anyone else who was seriously ill. My Nannan once told me ‘if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing’. So I think I’ll leave it there.
Of course. The poor decisions he made grated at the time but there’s more important things in life. Hope he comes through.
