    £65.20 was enough for a filling. Now it's going to be £70.70. Millions still don't have a dentist.

    Mainly because they won't be able to afford the dentist to brace them

    On a serious note, I still blame Clement Atlee for many of the problems in the NHS. He caved in to pressure from the top doctors, dentists and opticians resulting in the crap we get today from private dentists, private hospitals and opticians. As an example of the injustices caused by this, I have myopia and have worn glasses since I was 12, a friend of mine has been epileptic since she was about the same age. I have had to pay thousands of pounds for vision correction over the last 55 years, she has not paid a penny for her epilepsy medication. Neither of us are at fault for our medical problems so why have I had to pay?

    I also wear glasses. I don't believe my short sightedness is in the same league as your friend's epilepsy. I don't think it's even the same game. I'm happy to hear the NHS has cared for your friend and I believe the social reforms of the Atlee government were a high point of UK politics.
