Was talking to my daughter the other day and she came up with 'antidisestablishmentarianism' in a sentence and I said to her that that would be a word that wouldnt be said in Barnsley. I mean.. come on... Sorry for two recent posts about non footy but I'm bored.
That'll get said somewhere..'I'll be voting Conservative '..'I hate the Conservatives 'I voted Conservative last time....' etc..
Presumably that means one is against breaking up the establishment? Surely 'establishmentarianism' is all that is needed. Or maybe I'm thick
Probably not in a sentence, but it did crop up in a spelling test. Worsbrough High, circa 1975. The English teacher was Dave Scott, a lovely bloke, despite being an Owl. I can't imagine the word 'susurrus' gets used much in these parts, but I rather like it.
Might be someone chemistry teacher telling his class about the stable isotopes of hydrogen - protium or deutrium - as opposed to the unstable tritium.
