Not that they'll be available, but it would be interesting to see some stats regarding how many goals we score from outside the box and compare that to previous season. In this 4 game winning run we've scored 13 goals, 7 of those were shots from outside the box.

We've had a few players over the years who would score spectacular long range efforts: Redfearn and Banks being the most prolific and honourable mentions go out to the likes of Agnew, Thompson, Barnard and Hourihane. But those seven outside the box goals in the last 4 games were scored by 5 different players (Phillips (3), Connell, Kane, Williams and Thomas). And they're not the only players we have who can do it: Benson sored some spectacular goals before being injured, Larkeche scored one of the most beautiful curling free kicks I've seen, and hasn't been allowed to take one since! Phillips is the pick of the bunch though, he's a shooting machine.

The most spectacular thing about it is, we aren't one of the most prolific at shooting from range. As in, we don't pepper long shots in. It just so happens that when we do, they're invariably finding the back of the net.

Phillips is deadly. But his movement is the key. I'd urge anyone to watch his goal on Saturday. Not the shot itself, but how he finds that couple of yards. You can't teach it.

He actually steps back a couple of yards to find his range. Like I used to.. :)

It helps that the ball leaves his foot faster than a Saturn 5 rocket.

I agree, we're not peppering the stand behind the goal with speculative shots. We shoot when the correct opportunity presents itself. There's a lot of skill too though, from Phillips consistently, but the goals from Connell and Kane were difficult and expertly taken.

We're a very strong team, physically strong. Not dirty, but tough. And we're super well organised. And our finishing is clinical. I've seen several Barnsley teams with more flair than this one, but few, if any, that are better at the business of winning football matches. They've clearly all worked extremely hard. They're a credit to themselves and the club and I imagine it comes from being expertly managed.

I genuinely don't think we've hit anything like our stride. Way more to come.

    I like your summary though.

It's a Barnsley side that speaks for its fanbase and expectations. Which was promised last summer.

I listened to a podcast today and they've got us down as direct and not as good to watch as the other five in the top six. Yet I've seen us score some cracking goals this season. Even recently, back to front. Must be because we don't fanny with it in the backline. I dunno.

Huge things coming for this club in the next few years. We're in good hands.

This is the feeling I'm getting right now, or at least that we're only just hitting it. Which is why for the last few weeks already, I've been convinced that we'll go up automatically. Saturday just re-enforced that belief.
