I think people just want to be offended by what I post. Probably a yellow card coming my way now too.

I was just thinking earlier, when I read that the far right protestors were there, as well as people opposed to the protest, that if you just saw a photo of everyone there it would be pretty easy to pick out the protestors, in the same way that if you took a photo of everyone entering an away end at a footy match you could pretty easily pick out the arseholes who will cause trouble. The funny thing is, they will look exactly the same.

The people inside the hotels that they are protesting about all want to be safe, they want to work, to provide for their families, to enable their children to receive an education, in the hope they can build a better life for themselves, they want to pay their taxes and be integrated into the British society. If I could kick one group from that video out of the country it wouldn’t be the asylum seekers.

I read it that you were taking the piss out of the protestors, who are all probably milking the state for whatever they can get, but we’re just a bit clumsy with how you worded it.

I was agreeing in the main but yeah perhaps clumsily. I do think that people are quick to jump on me. If I'd cracked the first Begum joke the other day I'd have been the anti Christ. As it happens it was one of the favoured posters so nothing was said and people laughed along with it.

I’m sure you weren’t. How could you given you have no idea of his disability or the limitations it places on his life? But my frustration is that the benefits system, as I’ve experienced it, bears no relation to the one I see regularly used as a stick to beat certain sections of the community with. That’s all.

I was speaking as one of those chavs. When I was on dole I got a warped view of society fuelled by cheap cider bought with Job seekers allowance. I'd mastered living on easy street and making it stretch. My peers of that time were the sorts of people I was referring to. I'm not proud but was talking from first hand experience. I've heard the taking all our jobs nonsense myself but it's born out of self pity. Sumat else I've become accustomed to lately.

I had a brief chat with Ken Loach, at the unveiling ceremony of Brian Glover’s blue plaque, and thanked him for I, Daniel Blake, which was more or less a documentary about my journey through the disability benefit process. The opening conversation in the film is almost word for word a conversation I had with someone who claimed she was medically trained. When I asked whether she was a doctor or a nurse, she was very non-committal. But I told her I was a trained nurse, so I’d love to know what her medical background was, and it was basically a course on how to knock back claims.

I ended up in front of a magistrate and a doctor in Sheffield when appealing my case and they just sighed and wondered why on Earth someone with my medical history had been forced to go through to them. In fact, they tried to coach me, into saying something that would enable them to tick a box which stop me ever having to be medically reviewed again, but I couldn’t honestly give the answer they wanted me to give, because the hearing was based upon my medical symptoms as at the time I made the claim or the claim decision was issued (can’t remember which) and I couldn’t take into account any deterioration since then. So whilst it was very nice and supportive of the magistrate and doctor, it’s not wise making false statements during the claim process, even if they were encouraging it.

So I had to go through the entire process again 6 months later. However, when they issued their intention to stop the claim I wrote an appeal letter to them, before taking it back to the court. On the strength of my letter they admitted the claim and put me in the category whereby I wouldn’t need to be medically reviewed in the future. My condition (or the condition of the umpteen I have got!) is degenerative in nature, so I am never going to get better.

I should point out that my job for the 12 years prior to stopping working, was helping corporate clients with their sickness absence management, helping to either get the employee’s back to work (with whatever modifications were needed) or helping them to get their benefit if a return to work wasn’t possible. For this I am referring to claims under Group Income Protection schemes. I didn’t advise on state benefits, apart from telling them where to go to get help and what they need to ask for. Occasionally I would write a letter to the DSS to explain the company benefit the employee was receiving, as they sometimes mistook it for a pension. But I was well versed in writing appeal letters to insurers to help get my claimants’ claims admitted. This clearly helped me when I had to compose such a letter myself!

There is no easy street for benefit claimants. Certainly not these days. Benefits can eke you out an existence and yes if you don’t know better you might accept that existence but the reality is your 80 quid a week won’t go very far once you take away all bills. It’s the grimmest most miserable life you could ever wish to lead.

I’ve been working over in Skegness yesterday and today and they had a planned anti immigrant protest March planned today I believe due to the amount of immigrants in the hotels on the front.

There's some proper pond life in that video. I recognised some of the faces - the "you journalists are all the same" racist was a couple of years below me at school. I don't think immigrants have taken his job - rather the fact that he can barely spell his own name.

    It's just sad.

Your a special kind of moron if you don't believe that this is exactly what the government wants. The left and the right arguing over it to distract from the fact that it's an issue the government have created themselves. It's a shining example of 'divide and conquer'.

It can't always be Govt's fault for everything . They are duly elected by English voters using an electoral system the public insisted on keeping. Gotta take some responsibility some time.

I stick by my idea that you've to be educated enough to be allowed a vote.

You know, like those from overseas who have to fill out a test of some sort, I'd like all in this country to prove they're not idiots before allowing them to vote.

Because all thick people who end up voting, seem to vote right wing. Because they're thick. As ****. Hence the state this nation is in.

Which us leftie loonies warned the rest about. For years. And were mocked.

    Idiots are dangerous.

The most dangerous thing is when the idiots realised they outnumbered the rest of us
