TBH that trumpet does my head in, especially the cringeworthy rendition of Jerusalem at start of play.

    Good of the Kiwis though.

Try sitting about 6 foot away from it for 6 hours, as was my misfortune at Trent Bridge last summer...

That's fantastic and just shows again what a lovely race of people the New Zealanders are. I've always had a soft spot for their teams, unlike their noisy neighbours the Aussies.

As for the trumpet and the Jerusalem song at the start of every match - why not? It's nowhere near as intrusive as those boom boom boom drum beats you get at lots of football grounds these days. The England team obviously appreciate it as well - when we are fielding they always acknowledge it. It must be great to be able to follow the England cricket team all around the world.

I can see that would be annoying but the tv mics never pick that up during a match - just the opening burst at the start of the innings.

Having been to an overseas test (many years ago) the support the barmy army give and atmosphere generated I can tell you first hand is appreciated by the England team but also by the opposition team, and local supporters too.

Port of Spain isn’t renowned for being the nicest place to visit, Queens Park Savannah at night you are warned about. But English cricket fans were treated like royalty from my experience. Yes they wanted us to spend - but I felt made to feel very welcome there, even walking across the Savannah to get up to the Queen’s Park oval ground.

Met Steve Harmison the day he’d taken five for after the first day’s play(went on to be six for the following morning), as well as Paul Collingwood who was twelfth man and Troy Cooley who was the bowling coach. Came from their hotel to ours for a barbecue to thank us for coming over to support them. I remember being amazed how many beers GBH drank

It’s going to take more than trumpet to keep me awake.

Did provide a chuckle. Bloke in seat in front of us said, "they should provide a designated area for him", his mate replied "aye Meadow effing Lane ".

in my opinion England cricket fans are the best and most loyal fans around. Everywhere England play they are followed in great numbers and will always back the boys. I was at Newlands in 2020 when the team all said that it was the barmy army that inspired them to victory on a flat 5th day pitch in the heat. Certainly a memory I’ll never forget.

Good idea for a new form of half time entertainment. Luckily there isn't one at Oakwell yet but I dread the day when there is.

Musical instruments should be banned from all sporting events. Big shout for the lad that nicked it. Nice gesture though. :D
