Rome wasn't built in a day acknowledgement that things need to improve and agree about the kids zone do it right invest a bit of time and money in to it or don't bother at all.
Doesn't even need an app. Hand over cash pre game for whatever you want and then pick it up ready at half time or shortly before pre paid. People should be able to be served and finish what they get during the half time break without missing any of the game.
Small steps in the right direction but I fear they've concentrate on the wrong areas. Sort the ******* access to and from the stadium. thats a massive priority that needs doing right now not later on. Also worrying that they consider the abomination that was pre match music at the last game as an improvement despite universal condemnation from the fans which they must have seen and heard.
Sounds like progress. SALT is a great brewery IMO. Good tie in there & some pre match entertainment in the East, plus a 3 for 2, which should help with sales, if service is efficient, my main bugbear with East service levels.
what do you expect the price of the beer will be? What is your limit price-wise when it comes to a pint?
I should add, all in favour of the improvements announced. any improvements are a step in the right direction. just disappointed nothing at all has been done for kids. I'm hoping it's because they're taking the time to do it right, rather than it being at the bottom of the list of priorities. if there aren't any comms by the end of the season, I'll assume it's the latter.
What do you propose they do? We ground basically In a housing estate and joined by one road which on a weekend is busy as hell
The council thought the preservation of professional football in the town sufficiently important to use council taxpayers' funds to buy into the ground and surrounding land. It can surely not be beyond the wit of man to be able to negotiate with the same council to improve road access and traffic schemes on matchdays so as to give the club the best chance of prospering. Too little done in this regard, in my view.
Unless they build some new roads or stop non footballing traffic using it on match day I don’t see what the club can do…….
In my 30 years of watching the reds it’s always been tricky leaving oakwell, surely if you’re using the carpark you have to expect a wait??? I’ve been all over the country and Ive been sat on my arse in a car/bus for ages, it’s part of the day of attending football……we could always move to a big soulesss retail park with great transport routes though
I am not an expert in traffic control, and I suspect neither are you. But people with such expertise do exist and ought to be utilised to help improve things. The road access and the car parking arrangements are a shambles and urgently need addressing. I won't be visiting Oakwell until they are, and I suspect I am not alone.
A suspect you’ll be stopping away for a long time then old chap!! There’s far more cars on the road these days and I reckon the highways agency would have something to say If the council asked for 10’s of millions to build some new roads for 60 Minutes use every other week just so a few Barnsley fans get home to watch the tele quicker
There are a few things they could do to improve it. It will never be perfect without spending a fortune building roads but small improvements could easily be made. Reopening beevor court is a very simple one. If it is supposedly the access road for fire engines then god help us as there's no access into the ground from that corner of the stadium anyway so it makes absolutely no sense. Opening the middle gate of the carpark for pedestrians rather than fighting through the cars. Ticketing the cars who park within the no parking area of grove Street. Madness that cars park on both sides of the road and that cars also try driving down grove Street at the same time cars are queuing up to enter grove Street. Reverse the absolutely bonkers and dangerous decision to close the slip roads on the flyover. No reason at all not to allow cars to use it. It's what it's designed for and it's the quickest and most efficient way to clear cars quicky. Forcing pedestrians and vehicles to both use lambra road is an accident waiting to happen. Regardless of what a jobsworth at the council says that road is not designed for the level of pedestrian flow it is being asked to facilitate and forcing cars up it at the same time is asking for trouble. The top gate of the carpark is no left turn because grove Street can't handle cars coming down it and cars exiting the bottom gate at the same time but there's nothing stopping cars turning right then immediately left and left again back on to grove Street. Fans need telling this isn't allowed. Market gate carpark is closed on matchdays I believe because the bridge is closed. Would it be feasible to use it as a football carpark? Potentially with a park and ride facility? Personally I don't think the access roads to and from the ground are such a problem. It's the same at most grounds. The problem is the restrictions that have been put in place that all need basically reversing and the money spent enforcing them used to enforce better solutions instead. Prime example is that someone pays a guy to stand at the bottom of grove Street with a sign stopping cars going up it after matches. Why? It's a two way road, a small number of cars going up it after matches should make zero difference when as I said earlier the top gate is right turn only. The money spent on that person's wages could be better utilised paying them to hold a stop and go lollipop on Pontefract road instead which would let cars exit grove Street much quicker and keep traffic flowing.
I've an unexpected weekend with the eldest this week, usual patterns and people falling ill left right and centre means he's not going to his mum's, but staying at home. So, we gunna make a day of it. Head into town on bus, a jar or 2 in town and pop down for the match. I'm slowly getting there and been to a couple of away games. And I feel up for this. I'll definitely be coming with cash to burn. I shall feed back if I've managed to spend any (queues permitting) Weather forecast seems fair, so I'll try and make a bit each as much as possible. I fancied east stand, but jay wanted ponty. Based on the statement, I've convinced him to east stand for the snap.... Don't let me down. He's already got me thinking about jumping back in with season tickets.... I'm not expecting a complete different experience, but if the above works and shows a marked improvement... I've also got a large group planned for the Ipswich game, so I'm hoping I can confirm the experience is better than the last time I got the group in for a game.
