Questions should also be raised about showing replays of goals on the big screens. They can inflame reactions from fans. If it's obvious a wrong decision has been made.
Depends how you're defining 'circumstances'. Circumstances are the same, in so far as the disallowed goal is being debated as a dodgy ref decision.
I'd agree to replays if we were allowed VAR. In the efl. Certain incidents eg controversial should not be replayed. And refs should not be influenced. As in VAR. I also sometimes watch parts of play live on the screen as it gives a better view.
This is such a non story. The only reason it’s being discussed is not the actual decision it took but how long. The guy in the link admits the whistle wasn’t blown, the Ref never pointed to the centre circle and then even admits the delay could just have been down to the linesman & Ref discussing. It’s also been explained by ex Referee’s as to why the delay.
Yet it's still being called out by BBC pundits and Hackett, and Wednesday have also had a good old whinge about it. As a Club we just don't seem to put any pressure on refereeing decisions at all. We seem to just take everything on the chin and move on.
Do you know that for a fact mate. Duff and the club have supposedly asked questions. Eg refereeing standards. (The disallowed goal was a farce and the club will seek refs to be more consistent) Calling off a game. Appeal bookings and sendings off. But take it on the chin or not (which I believe the club do not as shown recently) will not alter a result. Have you also seen a report of Wednesday staff whinging to the efl. ? Duff has quite clearly stated he won't wash dirty linen in public as that could lead to him appearing before the efl. And get him into trouble. He and the club will go through proper channels.
I don’t know it for a fact, no. That’s why I said ‘seem to’, based on what I hear in interviews etc. I just think we’re generally too nice. As for altering the result, no, it definitely won’t. It’s not about changing results though, it’s about trying to make sure there aren’t more terrible decisions.
But I believe unlike you. The club are doing that. It's been reported many times that they make official complaints to the efl seeking clarity and consistency. They will not publish replies as they are probably confidential. I don't know of it still happens. But clubs used to score refs out of 10. (May have just been a Sheffield and Hallamshire FA local leagues rule tbh) And have to give a written report if their performance fell below standards. If it doesn't happen maybe it should be brought in.
The only thing Hackett has said is you’re not allowed to use a screen? Even Darren Moore said he agreed with the decision but believed it was reached by the screen replay. It’s completely different to ours at the weekend.
Not sure why you think we just take it on the chin when there are numerous examples of us doing the opposite. Wigan fans think they were relegated due to us poking our noses in.
I know it’s different. I’m not saying it’s the same type of incident at all. I’m commenting on how such a fussed is being kicked up about it.
Just my opinion, based on what I generally see and hear week in week out pre/post match, from players and staff. This being an example. It’s just a general observation.
I was just replying to the comment of debating a dodgy ref decision TBH. In that it wasn’t dodgy it was correct.
What Moore said is tantamount to questioning the integrity of the referee, who knows not to use the screen.
Not every club in rugby league has a screen. Sky provide a screen, and video ref is used only in televised games. Rugby League is probably the worst example of using technology in sport now, as they haven't advanced it at all in 25 years.
