How many on here have done every single competitive game in a season? League & cup? I want to have a go at that at some point
Me an wife had a go at this, Season 2011, its a lot harder than you think, Marriages, [usually weekends] Funerals, Hostpital / other Appointments, Postponements, time off work, yes we did have a go both working full time, not sure but i think we missed 3 games all season, that was hard, never tried it since an wouldnt want to with the expenses, we love our football and try really hard to get the Granbairns involved, were retired nar and pick an choose our games.
Just trying to remember the year when I went down and the weather was horrendous it would have been around 94. We counted something like 75 away fans and most of us spent the game underneath the floodlight trying to get out of the rain. I used to travel with The Dove back then, great memories.
I was there for all three as well but travelling much shorter trips by train from Salisbury. I was single at the time so I thought “why not?”. It helped having my HM Forces Railcard as well. Ah, the good old days when we had a railway system that actually ran all the time!
My first I think was season before Premier (When we set up Hoyland reds (away travel) longest travel group under the same name to this day to every game. sharing when necessary which is rare. Independents do discuss thankfully to get together when necessary. To cater for fans eg Exeter away recently. There was a branch under the same name who ran busses to home games at that time. 2 totally separate independent groups) . But definitely premier and many seasons after that. I'd be surprised if I've missed more than 30 in the last 15/20 yrs. (Covid aside) Not bragging as I'm not one of those that think 1 supporter is more important than another. (Better fan bo11ox) Different circumstances (eg work commitments), affordability and common sense of which I have little regarding tarn. My bro for example rarely goes to away games. attends almost all home games but his loyalty tut tarn is as important in my view as anyones. Others (also) go when they can. If you want to know who is the most Ardent fan I've ever come across. (Without a doubt and he'll have some serious competition. Who put such as myself in the shade so to speak.) He's been watching tarn mid to late 50's. He could count missed games on one hand I reckon. When he was old enough to travel. Probably 1960's. Kelvin Blandamore Got talking to an ex employee of BFC (M.S) tuther day. And said I hadn't noticed him recently at home games. (Just didn't notice him but he was there) Has missed 5 home games since his dad took him as a lad in 1958. Was released as BFC Secretary during the during administration I think.
Think it was 79 when a car full of pompey supporters, followed the supporters bus, out of Portsmouth for quite some distance, whilst brandishing rather long knifes and gesturing, that they were going to stab all and sundry At one point they even tried stabbing the rear tyre, such was the craziness of the situation ....
