So it’s unlikely that anymore incoming transfers will be done this month according to Duff. Do people think we have done enough business to push on for the playoffs? I think Thomas will be a decent addition for us. Would still have liked to see another striker come in to complement the front line but hopefully Watters can give us something different and Norwood and Aitchinson continue with the form shown on Saturday. Will have to wait and see what Cotter offers but at £20k it could be a shrewd signing.
We should have tedic back in the not too distant future I believe. That will be five striking options.
He has only made 9 appearances all season with the majority of those being in the efl trophy and league cup. I would consider trying to send him back and getting in an alternative.
I think if we get our act together January finishing could be a blessing in disguise. Thomas and Tedic back from injuries will be like a new signings. Especially if they hit the form they were in. I know Tedic didn't score but his build up play and holding it up was as good as I've seen. Think he has a future. Then we have Norwood and Cole that have chipped away all season. Bodes well.
I think duff said it took a while for him to get to grips with how we play and was starting to look the part before he got injured. Seems pointless sending him back to start again with another new player when we've worked with him and he knows what is expected of him.
I can’t wait for Thomas to be back fit and playing. Was in incredible form before his horrible injury. Just hope he can bounce back from it and carry that form on into the final parts of the season.
If Duff's happy, or he's saying it, cos we've got an eye on somebody and dunt want gazumping by the overspending cheating Fukwits
I’d have ideally liked another striker and sent Tedic back. I’m guessing we don’t have that option so we can’t accommodate another striker.
In my glass half empty world*, all we've done so far is Duff quickly went out and got (what looks like a quality) defender to replace the two he lost in quick succession whilst all Khaled has done is bring in two unfit players, one of which is by our own admission 'a punt' and both of which aren't able to help the already threadbare squad until they get fit! *I'm in glass half empty world as I really want us to do well and capitalise on being in an unexpectedly good position due to the work of our excellent head coach. I may tip into a glass half full world with the signing of a credible league 1 standard line-leading striker this week to give us the bare minimum we need.
In summary: All good player deals are because of Duff, and all bad player deals are because of Khaled? I'd just call that confirmation bias.
Tend to agree with this. Watters might turn out to be decent but it might take him a few weeks to get up to speed. We just don’t have the luxury of time waiting for him. That said, it’s very difficult recruiting a decent striker in the January window. The one we should’ve got last summer is Coburn from Middlesbrough. Instead he’s 250 miles from home with Barton at Bristol.
Now that would be good! If we could do a 'Bobby Thomas' with Coburn's loan not only would we have a really good striker, we'd make Barton spontaneously combust
I suggested this as well last week, whether we should keep Teddy or send him back to Man City now. But Duff seems to be ok with him, and what he was doing before the injury, so I will go along with that. It could be a difficult time waiting for Watters to get to full fitness though, hopefully it won't prove to be a waste of time.
Will still be four as he does nothing for us. We need another striker and I reckon despite what Duff says we will bring one in, probably at the last minute. We will say something like the plan wasn't to bring anyone else in, but we had a good opportunity so took it.
