    It means there will be a fee involved rather than them leaving for nothing.

    It's expected news, but great news all the same. Hopefully by the summer, we're in a position to offer them a deal beyond next season.

    Yes like said that all depends on what league where In I think. All 3 are players I wouldn't be surprised to see championship clubs taking a gamble on if we don't go up.

    I think you're probably right. They might extend if we go up otherwise I think this is so they command fees in the summer.
    Cotter will be replacement for JW and maybe Thomas for Mads given Duff's Burnley connections.
    As for a keeper, replacements aren't usually difficult to find.

    Could also be to push up fees in this window. All are now effectively under contract for 18 months.

    The club can't win with some fans. We extend the contracts of Styles, Andersen, Collins & Williams and it's an issue. If the club doesn't extend the deals, fans demand to know why they haven't done so.
    For me, it's excellent news.

    It isn't cracking news. It's a bit meh really as all it means is the club has longer to get them to sign new deals or sell them. The option is always in the clubs favour anyway. This make it look like the players wanted to have the option exercised but in reality no one knows if that's the case. Better than a kick in ball ax though.

    I'm not sure how there is spin? The headline used on this thread "reds trio see deals extended" is pretty factual.
