And fair isle in Scotland got £27m for a new ferry to go along with the airport that will serve all 28 houses. Almost £1m essentially given to each house. Would have been cheaper to buy each home one of these and still have millions of change to buy them a car each to use on the mainland
But hey, inflation has peaked, energy bills will start to fall and the BoE Governor says the recession won't be as bad as feared. All well then, folks?
General election 2019: Barnsley Central Party Candidate Votes Labour Dan Jarvis 14,804 Brexit Party Victoria Felton 11,233 Conservative Iftikhar Ahmed 7,892 Some scary maths there!
I saw a bit of Steph's Packed Lunch on c4 yesterday and they were discussing this. There was a member of the public from Barnsley on saying how wonderful the levelling up stuff was due to the renovation of the centre, Glass Works etc. As I understand it the 2 things are entirely separate and it boiled my piss that this person was on national TV happily giving the Tories credit for something that they didn't do.
Marvellous. When in reality, it's been delivered 12 years over schedule, largely as a decade of Tory cuts that have meant our Council never really had the money to do it anyway as well as keep vital services running. Plus, happy to be corrected on this, but weren't there some EU funds which contributed? Irony is, the EU has done far more for South Yorkshire than the Tories ever have.
It makes me sick to the pit of my stomach that so-called ‘ordinary people’ will cover-up and even lie just to spout their Pro-Tory beliefs. How the fek we have local Tories, (even worse, being in denial and lying) is getting beyond comprehension.
Haha. Like it. And I will be seeing Fair Isle on Thursday as I pass on my way to Shetland. Saw the local news last night and Dundee was apparently given money. No idea how much but one project is to revamp a feckin car park. No idea who chooses what to spend the money on but **** me a car park?
Funding for anything which shows what a state the Tories have got the country in (addiction services, homelessness, social care and housing, core transport infrastructure) isn't eligible for Levelling Up money. Can't be making it look as though they're letting us rot, can we now?
