I thought according to our illustrious board we lost half a million last time we qualified for the play offs.
We've already beaten & drew Bolton away mate. We've beaten Wednesday away. We drew away with Ipswich. Plymouth we were poor, Derby first half we were poor, but we played much better second half and could easily have taken a point, and iirc we should have had a penalty? We've had a couple of bad results after a really good run. The first bad result was in part due to giving away a penalty after 10 minutes & a red card for our best player. Do I think we're better than those teams you mentioned? No. Do I think we can compete and beat them though? Absolutely, already proven it against some of them. A couple of additions, perhaps if Watters starts well, we could look on top form again.
I would rather we finished top this season and if not then second. We have to try and get promoted this season for the finances, to have a better chance of hanging on to certain players and to try and get back some much needed feel good factor.
Smoke and mirrors that from conman Imo. Plus we lost more with the clowns he hired as head coaches and the Belgium donkey's were still paying for.
Conway deserves most of the criticism he gets, but this was one of his quotes which often goes misinterpreted. Because we had to open the entire stadium, but could only have a capacity of 4,000 due to covid, the club lost about half a million during that play off campaign. This is often translated as, the board doesn't want us to make the play-offs because it costs too much money, which obviously isn't true. Had we been able to have a full capacity, been able to open catering kiosks, welcome away fans, open the club shop etc etc, I'm sure getting to the play offs would have been a great money spinner for the club.
no just saying what he said that getting to the play offs cost us money. If we have sone some separate impact analysis that shows this isn’t the case then that’s all good. Either way doesnt mean we don’t want to get in the play offs but the last communication from the club that this is a loss maker not financial windfall.
"I did my medical and they took pictures. Think they didn't submit the paperword in time for the FA - Or it didn't have Millwall's signature" So, could've been Millwall's issue. Could even have been an issue with results of his medical. But let's have a swipe at Khaled. (Who I'm not a fan of btw, but some of the stuff I see aimed at him is over the top, given what he has to work with budget wise, compared to his predecessor). Not sure what that has to do with George Hurst, who as far as I know, we've not tried to sign, and probably couldn't afford.
But that was specific to that season, because Covid had an impact on ticket and food & drink revenue in those two particular games. Conway didn't say getting to the play-offs was a loss maker generally speaking.
No there’s been no communication either way. I didn’t see that he limited his comments to that season and I found them fairly difficult to believe even then though. And again I have no doubt that we are aiming for the play offs but don’t se them as a money spinner at this level
I think youre fighting too hard against this. Fairly obvious what Conway meant and why. I intensely dislike the guy but I won't purposefully take things out of context or be stubborn just because of it
I'm 90% certain he referenced covid, but it's obvious that's what he meant anyway. The only other reason I can think of why we'd lose so much money is from bonuses, but even then, the reduced capacity and revenue due to covid impacted that.
