I just checked the Forest report though Helen. They changed their entire starting eleven. It's not a giant killing, barely even an upset. This is why the FA Cup is dead in the water.
Yeah, I get that Ian. It devalues it for me though. It also plays into the hands of the big six who have a virtual monopoly on it now. A couple of them will squeeze through to the last couple of rounds on their huge playing squad and a lot of Prem teams who could give them a game on their day have already thrown their matches by that point leaving Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City to win it yet again. It's just not the competition it was. The Derby game tomorrow could be well matched or one or both might decide to soft pedal. I hope it's them.
To be fair, Forest signed 376 players in the summer, so they could field a different 11 every week if they wanted to.
Lol, they probably had to be introduced to one another in the dressing room. Not an upset though. Not like the old days like Leeds taking a full strength side to Colchester back in the 70s and getting knocked out.
Still beat them though! And Newcastle were beaten and they had a lot of their first squad players playing.
Yeah, I've no problem with Forest losing. I just don't think it's a particularly notable achievement. Maybe I'm a dinosaur but a fantastic competition has been cheapened to the point of ruination since the start of the greed league.
Check again though, they may have changed but that team they put out would easily finish top 6 in championship. Crazy transfer/wage cost in that starting 11 for Forest
That may be Tyke but we all know what usually happens when you throw a random starting eleven together. They're out of form because they're not playing regularly, they're unuded to playing with each other and the fact that they're all playing at once sends a signal that the club isn't taking the game seriously. I know the theory is that they're all motivated by playing for a regular starting spot but we know that rarely works. Kerry GAA won the national championship last year with a fine side, lashed local rivals Cork along the way. This week in a low key game against Cork they rested 12 out of 15 players and fielded ones who would still be considered quality by the standards of most counties. They got well and truly stuffed.
In a game a little further down the road bambo diaby scored as Preston beat Huddersfield 3-1 infront of less than 7k fans
