MAX WATTERS ARRIVES ON LOAN Club News The Reds are delighted to welcome the 23-year-old forward to Oakwell! Continue reading on the official site...
We need him to take pictures of his arse on the BFC photocopier to prove he is what we are looking for. Need to be careful it doesn't end in a @Stephen Dawson clip...
Seriously, welcome Max. Looks a great move for Barnsley & yourself, assuming you have had to sign up to the BBS as part of the deal. You'll soon be up to date about Nudger's Bridge & the flatbreads.
13 in 15 league 1 but only 5 goals in 37 games at this level or above. I'm going to take that as a positive though because I don't think the gulf between league 1 and league 2 is that big so he certainly knows where the net is and the fact he's not got the goals since stepping up means that he will be wanting (and needing) to prove himself and hungry to show that he can cut it
Played as a lone striker at Cardiff. His successful spells were as part of a two. Fingers crossed. Confident kid who seems really happy to be here and can’t wait to prove a point.
Confidence is key. Confidence and a point to prove sounds like a really really good combination. I've always said that the nets the same size regardless of the league. If you can find the top corner of one, you can find the top corner of another.
He is at a crossroads in his career after being goal shy at Cardiff. This summer he's one year left on his contract. If he bangs them in for us he has more bargaining power with Cardiff and others. If he finishes our loan spell with 3 in 20 then his next contract won't be a Championship wage. He needs to hit the ground running for his own good as we as ours.
As Whitey has said, he’s been laiking up front on his own. He needs a partner. Bradshaw was awful up on his own as well remember. Isolated. He’ll play in a two here, and hopefully it will suit him better. I don’t see any negative in this signing. Clever bit of business and getting one in early doors is also an improvement. Well done to all involved. Might not work out but at least they’ve acted quickly and brought someone in with some experience and pedigree at this level.
Got an email today from club telling me about this signing. Can’t remember receiving one before. Just wanted to say thought it was a positive step on communication front from club.
Fingers crossed he does the business, big gap from championship to league one these days. Cardiff have been poor this season, probably needs a change of scenery, but needs to get his head down and grab the opportunity.
Good to know buddy. Today was a good day, for how we all pulled the deal together across all departments. The only shame was Mark Hudson telling the media about it early afternoon during his pre-match and thus stopping it being a surprise. Duff did similar months ago though, referencing Oduor and ruining Hartlepool’s announcement. One of those things.
I've had an email from the club most weeks this season, i think, with what's coming up, what's happened, and pointers to news articles, videos forthcoming matches etc. Really nicely designed with good info in them. Have been impressed with what was in them and thought it was a good way of keeping fans up to date. Not everyone is on social media or reading the website all the time so it's good to utilise that channel. Not sure if I just haven't paid much attention to them before this season or if its a change in design/content etc but I've somehow noticed them more (in an inbox full of crap).
Don't know anything about the lad, but apparently he's scored a few in this League before. So fingers crossed then, and I like the fact that its been done so early in the month.
We've had some decent signings from Cardiff. Norman Dean, Frank Sharp, Les Lea, Gordon Owen. Hope you have a successful stay here, Max.
