This guy played with the brilliant Durand Jones. I could have posted one of his. His falcetto reminds me of Curtis Mayfield. No one will be Curtis for a million reasons. Not bad though....
Two reasons why I'm posting this: Specials were a multicultural band fronted by a white man. The amazing Terry Hall. Music goes on & the likes of Curtis & Terry will never be forgotten. Soul was the ******* son of the African blues & Irish music. Indentured servitude for Irish migrants put them together with African slaves. There came the blues & then the soul. Blues artists were doing fife & drums for example. A perfect example of how migration is good, not negative. I think Terry would agree.
I’ve got a couple of Durand Jones & The Indicators albums. When I first heard them, what with their name too, if you’d told me they’d recorded them in the 60s or 70s I’d have believed you.
