Messi to pick up another booking and is suspended for the final. FIFA ***** it and spend the next four days looking for a loophole. On the morning of the final the yellow card is rescinded on extremely flimsy grounds. Messi scores a last minute winner.

Edit - Just been informed by @Tomi that the slate is now wiped clean after the quarters rather than at the end of the group stages. But if he gets sent off in the semi then the same thing will happen!

I think all cards are wiped oit after quarter finals. So any booked in semi makes the final

Bookings are now wiped after the quarters. So the only way a player can miss the final is to get a red card in the semis.

Probably for the best after the ref's performance yesterday. Is this a recent change?
