How many were Barnsley fans though? (I have no idea but assume the majority were Newcastle fans)

No football at Newcastle that weekend and probably cheap - we were playing Crewe on a day with train strikes. We were never going to pull a big crowd though were we

I wonder how many Ponte enders just didn't bother because we didn't open the Ponte? Wonder if we'd have seen an increase if that had been the case? Guess it wouldn't be financially viable though.
Will we make a loss putting on the game after Crewe gets their 45% of the (very cheap) gate?

I think someone said tickets were 3 quid, and 6 quid on day. Be stupid not to take them up on that offer and support the lasses if you've nothing else to do! We scored a cracking goal.

Aside from all the explanations, surely it’s just a good thing that 28000 people went to watch grass roots football?
What a brilliant experience for players and spectators alike.By the way Barnsley took three or four coaches I believe.

A Premier League side that has no rivals and is on a WC break has thousands of fans pay no more than £3 to get a Football fix watching the women.

It cannot be compared to us against Crewe.

“ getting a football fix “ when there are 4 matches a day , every day , on your telly.

The FA Cup is hardly 'grass roots'. Especially when St. James Park is half full. o_O

Bit of a daft comparison really.
You might as well say 3900 watch Barnsley v Crewe in 2022, 75,000 watch Man United v Barnsley 25 years earlier.
