That's a good turn art, well done all concerned, had a 30 euro bet with a Crewe fan, t'day paid for mi Malibu an Lemon, all afternoon,
Av bin..good couple of beers in Mount then up to match. sadly Crewe arnt up to much bt its a good run out and 3-0 does the confidence no harm..
I was, then got an offer of some work, with the added bonus I could watch tarn anyway on a little screen in front of me. Never look a gift horse etc etc......
They couldn't have made it much cheaper but FA cup as lost its magic, but fans have the choice to attend or not.
Or did we make them look poor, as it was only Iran err I mean only Crewe. I agree though that there isn't that buzz anymore when it comes to the Fa cup. Remember how exciting Fa cup final day used to be for all neutral fans, there was the whole build up and players genuinely wanted to play in it and win it in those days. Im not sure where this all started to change, but somewhere along the lines, the Fa cup became a second rate or even third rate competition.
Around about the time that Manchester United were allowed to withdraw from it to compete for some no mark pot in the far east.
Does anyone know how much it costs to host a game? Roughly? Would a crowd of under 4K at £10 and £5 a ticket, plus a few pie sales, cover the cost of lighting, staff and stewards etc?
Lower league opposition wasn't going to bring in many fans. I suppose one plus point is if we get drawn away at a team that doesn't give you many tickets like Chippenham away if they beat Burton today, you'd have a better chance of going than people who have avoided the two cup games. The experience at the stadium was really poor as expected from having two sides shut. The catering area in the centre of the stand was caged off. The matchday programme was garbage. It had a interview with Jalo and was full of adverts. It didn't even have a column in it from Duff or our CEO to fill up content a bit.
Be lucky to take £10k after all shares of the pot and deductions. Lighting will not be a massive amount in real terms. Less than £300. I'd have thought. If modern led's Less than £100 £67k for winning from the prize pot though.
It's hard to expect supporters to turn up when the club itself put in the bare minimum effort to host the game. Was Toby there at all? No half time entertainment. Couldn't even be bothered to do the crossbar challenge. Fan zone not there. Refreshment stand barriered off and lines of bins on show. Free for all after the game with no traffic management in place. Just seemed like the club was trying to host the game for as cheap as possible and the fans were almost an inconvenience to them.
