Half Time: Nardiello and Hammill

    I thought that was a lovely touch from the Club yesterday in bringing these two back to speak to the Crowd at half time. Always a fan of Nardiello but Hammill - well, what can one say about the contribution he has made to this football Club.

    I come from the 'Glavin generation' so fellow BBSs from that time will know exactly what that means and how important it was in forming the bond to BFC. However, even more so than King Ronnie, I've never seen such an impact on the Club's fortunes by by one player, as that by Adam Hammill.

    I don't doubt that this has something to do with the 'connection' that he made with the Club and its fans but it was so much more than that. I've just watched the best of Adam Hammill You Tube video and ....good grief....what a talent he was. We were fortunate to see him in his pomp - not once but twice. And those players who looked so ordinary before he arrived - but went on the great things - owe him a lot.

    As I say, credit to the Club for the invite, and for making it a bit special. More grit in the eye moment for some of us I'm afraid.

    Wonderful post.. I’m from the Clarke/Hunter generation too. & people don’t talk enough about Ray McHale etc..
    Adam is definitely the best footballer I ever saw in a Barnsley shirt.. :)
    I hope Whitey & the team got some good tape of his homecoming..

    I thought it was brilliant and was hoping someone would come on with a pen. Seeing as he is now a free agent. But seriously do hope someone has got footage or audio recording of the on field interview because the tannoy in the west stand is a total waste of time i couldn't tell a word of what anybody was saying. Which is another point to Khaled, instead of buying new cookers and whatever. Could he put abit of money into the sound system

    Great to see both of them yesterday, interestingly (or not) I was in The Ponty towards the middle just in front of the wheelchair bit and in almost the same position relative to Hammill and the goals as I was at the Wembley playoff final. Sadly his effort wasn't quite as thrilling.....

    Because he didn't have red shirt on. But not bad I'd say in ordinary shoes on a sodden field.

    Hammill’s reception was louder than anything from the crowd throughout the 90 mins. A true measure of his legend status.
    Great to see Nardiello back too.

    There’s footage of him included in the Alternative Angle video on ifollow. We’ll probably stick something on social media tomorrow too. But will mostly be watching the World Cup (sorry).

    My best memory of Nads was the game against Sunderland when they had Roy Keane in charge (2006-7?). At half-time, Keane walked over to Danny put his arm round his shoulder and walked of the pitch and down the tunnel talking to him all the way. I think I heard somewhere that Nardiello was his Boot-Boy at Man Ure back in the day.
