I heard his audio where he was telling his staff they had to work in the office instead of at home, which again, is fine with me (unless obviously child issues, medical issues etc) Didn't know about the additional hours though. Not really sure how he could have enforced that without loads of legal action when they have contracts? I suppose when you have an endless supply for wealth you can just spend 44 billion and throw your toys out of the pram whenever you feel like it. Makes you wonder what goes through some of these 'eccentric' mega-rich heads
Often boggles the mind does America, first world superpower, massive military, incredible wealth - and yet some of their laws and cultures baffle me. I try not to judge other cultures (even when it seems easy to do so), but sometimes you've just got to shake your head.
Most states employees can be fired without any cause at the whim of the employer (called 'At Will' employment). California at least has some workers rights which is why he has to pay them 3 months severance.
And I doubt he has considered workers might have somewhat better protection outside America. Many also have WFH contracts and you can’t just tell them they now have to go into an office. Dublin for example had far more workers than desks. Though I think that might have been rectified now due to lord of staff leaving and suing for constructive dismissal
You think Musk wants to make it less of a cesspool? Have you read anything that he's said?! As to whether you can become the richest person in the world while being fundamentally incompetent - he's the evidence that you absolutely can. You don't need to prove your own capability to inherit a whole bunch of capital and play around with it. Paraphasing my favourite tweet on the current situation: Imagine that this exact thing is happening, but you're living on Mars and he's controlling the oxygen.
Nothing will change that, its too far gone. I dont understand whats happening, because apparently twitter usage and amount of people joining is highest its ever been?
I never accused him of incompetence, but giving his employees an ultimatum about either working drastically longer hours (for the same pay) or leaving the company is not the right way to treat people.
Put succinctly: Elon Musk is the 21st century equivalent of a rich industrial revolution period Mill/mine owner with even less of a conscience regarding workers welfare than even most of them had. Of course, there were/are exceptions... e.g. Titus Salt and the 'reformed' Bill Gates (who admittedly was very volatile and an office bully in his younger days). Empathising falls way short of being compassionate. IMO Musk practises neither. More cynically it has been said "Behind every great fortune lies a heinous crime"
I’m guessing people that follow Musk on Twitter is the same folk that follow Trump or Piers Morgan, it’s out of morbid curiosity at what they’re going to come out with next, it’s like when you see a car crash, you know you shouldn’t look but you can’t help yourself unfortunately it gives them plenty of self importance, they start to believe they’re popular and well liked.
Sounds like Trump has snubbed it though. I don’t quite know why, but I am really enjoying watching Musk’s $44bn purchase slip down the pan.
What a nuclear bell end he is. This has become a real dilemma for me, because I’m a big Twitter user. Now I’m torn. Like Natalie Imbruglia.
First you have to disable the account (for a month I think) then you can delete it. The disable option is on your profile/account page.
