Listening to people discuss decent players who have come through their ranks... If you were picking a team from the Barnsley alumni, and they're all at their current age, playing right now, who would you select?
Butland Trippier Pinnock Stones Holgate Kent Mowatt Barnes Armstrong Dike Toney Bench Davies Helik Mawson Pearson Hourihane Moore Wood
Hignett isn't playing now. I'm struggling in midfield to be honest. After Pearson, Hourihane, Brownhill, Mowatt, Barnes and Kent.
You'd have Kitching and Edwards over Stones and Pinnock? Edit: totally missed the point and humour in your post
Gone 3-5-2 Butland Stones, Mawson, Pinnock Trippier, Hourihane, Mowatt, Barnes, Holgate Dike, Moore. Subs: Davis, Helik, Morris, Kent, Bassi, Brownhill
Really surprised people are picking Davies over (other than Butland, seems to be playing finally!) Collins, considering Davies has played less than 40 league games in almost 4 and a half seasons. Collins or Butland all day long for me, more than likely Collins due to Butland's playing time. Butland looked a fantastic prospect as a young un. Hopefully he finds some playing time & proper form again
I like your optimism / positivity, but you can't really be serious? Collins & Andersen in the running definitely / maybe at best. Would put Collins in over Butland on the grounds he is the best sweeper keeper, which is what you need these days with a high press & still he is good in the air & at as a stopper. Andersen would make the bench, but isn't Stones or Pinnock. If you played 3 at the back I think he'd get the nod though over Holgate. Trippier is a better wing back option for me.
Holgate has over 100 premier league appearances for Everton and an estimated value of ~£15m according to transfermarkt. As much as i love Andersen, he’s not at that level yet.
Dike and Moore up front is an absolute battering ram of a forward pairing. With Trippier bombing down the wing and providing the crosses we wouldn't need much of a midfield! Maybe I'd have Toney floating off the big lads in a three man forward line.
