    Just plucked this out from Doug’s write up…


    “The Reds have conceded just seven shots on their goal in the last seven league games.

    They have the joint best defensive record in the division with 14 goals conceded in 17 games.

    Leyton Orient are the only side in the EFL who have conceded fewer.”


    Who would have thought that would be the case in august?

    Unless I'm reading it wrong, this stat has nothing to do with the keeper. It's the number of shots that we've allowed the opposition to have. We could be playing without a keeper and the stat would be unaffected.

    Actually, if we carry on like this, we could save money by giving Brad Collins his redundancy notice.

    Mads is probably the best defender in the division. Hope we can hang on to him in January.

    Goalies do a lot more than stopping shots, Brad's command of the box and his excellent keeper-sweeper play must give his defenders confidence and allow them to push further up the field.

    If anything the stats make the keeper look worse because if I've done my maths correctly that means that 5 of the last 7 shots that were in target have ended up in the back of the net.

    What about all the occasions when the keeper's excellent anticipation means that he gets to the ball before it reaches the forwards and thereby prevents any shots?

    But we're still crap though..? Some folk bottle it when the team sheet is announced, if not before. Humble pie factory is doing a roaring trade this season.. :)
