    The UK contributes a large amount to the European Broadcasting Union, not to the Eurovision Song Contest. This is partly because we have multiple broadcasters paying to be part of the union and not just one. We aren’t just spending money for the sake of a song contest. The song contest is one of the famous events that utilises the EBU, but being a member of the EBU also means, for example, that ITV can screen a football match held in Italy by making use of a local broadcasters film crew and footage rather than paying to send their own crew and cameras to film the event.

    Thank you for that and a lot of people get a great deal of enjoyment from it, i used to years ago but it is more political imo now.
