I read some ‘Boys of 66’ type book on holiday a couple of weeks since, and it struck me, in the photos in there, how the England fans, back then, all waved Union Jacks. I couldn’t actually remember at what point the George Cross overtook the Union Jack as the England fans flag of choice so I googled it. Apparently it was Euro 96 when we were in the same group as Scotland and neither set of fans wished to appear neutral in waving or displaying the Union Jack.
It also raises the question once again as to whether we should go with our own English and not British anthem, of Land of hope and glory.
I liked the red one for the last world cup. Think it was about £40 for my 12 year old and as we went for the bigger one it still fits him. You'd need to pay me to wear this one!
