or any other train set geeky types. I got a Hornby Orient Express Boxed Set for my 40th. Apart from setting up a few times to please my kids, it has been back in it's box in the loft for the best part of *many* years now. I suddenly got an urge to get it out this week with a view to testing it, and maybe setting it up as a winter display. Anyway ........ I am rubbish with electrics, so don't baffle me. As per the pic below, it has run nicely around the outside track. When I switch the points to send it to the inner track, it transfers OK then stops. QUESTION 1: Is that because I have no track power connector to the inner track?
The answer to the question imo is yes. I had a similar set up (many years earlier I might had) and it needed a second connection to the inner track which threaded underneath the outer one.
Yes definitely ... you need power to the inner track cos once you close the points from the outer track then the inner one becomes isolated. Remember though to fit a separate power clip exactly as you have done the on the outer track otherwise you'll get a short circuit Positive to positive, negative to negative.
I can't help thinking that you're using outdated technology. "Dilithium is a precious crystal used in tactical warp drives. It is semi-permeable to both deuterium and anti-deuterium, and provides a natural chamber for a controlled matter-antimatter reaction, focusing the energy so it can be harnessed and used for power." Got to be worth a try?
