0.12% of the country. That's all it takes to decide the direction that the country takes for the next 2+ years.
Not even 50% of tory members eligible to vote apparently. Rees-Mogg will be next PM, in about 18 months.
wouldn’t surprise me if he’s back before Christmas! Truss has said that she will put a stop to the investigation into him lying to Parliament. I have a feeling that was just to get the Tory voters onside, cos it is certainly not in her own interest for Johnson to get off. If he is found guilty…if he is found guilty?!? It shouldn’t be up for question. He clearly lied and any other conclusion would just be corruption. But if he is found guilty it should be the end of him as PM. At the moment he is a bigger threat to her than Kier Starmer. So it would be idiotic of her to stop the investigation, and she’s no idio…oh!
What makes you think that? Genuine question. What do you think is gonna happen that sees him back as PM, given the kicking he got from his own party?
I don't know if I think this will happen or not, it's insane, but what isn't these days... But, I can see a world where in the leadup to the next GE, if the predictions say the tories are going to take a kicking under Truss, they wheel BJ back out to use the same playbook as 2019.
a brief Truss poll boost followers by a long decline do that by. Mid 23 the desperation makes them vote for a new leader. Johnson is free to stand and if he gets through to the members vote he wins.
Surely if the Truss government implodes before the end of the current cycle, they'll have little choice but to call a general election. I think Boris returning would be likely to cause national mutiny.
I don’t have anaesthetic at the dentist (well hard!) and have experienced root canal work with all the pain left in. Make no mistake, it hurts, but it’s a bit like when you jump in the sea, where the first jump takes your breath away and then you get used to it. Having your tooth drilled into, particularly that deep, particularly with an infection beneath, gives you one hell of a jolt, but if you just relax and accept it, the pain gets less and less and then a few minutes later it’s all done and you get to leave without several hours of a numb jaw (although being on strong painkillers, as I am, came in handy afterwards, when the aftershocks arrive!). But all in, it was about 5 minutes of, admittedly pretty strong, pain. Liz Truss and the Tories are there for at least a couple more years. Anaestheticless root canal is therefore far, far more preferable. If Ms Truss (her appointment is doubly depressing, as it’s the first time I’ve been older than the Prime Minister!) and the Tories are prepared to stand aside and let Labour run the country, I would happily volunteer to daily root canal treatment for as long as my teeth hold out.
i just think we are all being naive if we think that’s the end of Johnson. Sone of his supporters deliberately voted for Truss because they know she will be disasterous and he can ride to the rescue.
