Premier league captain's are voting to end it. They say it's lost its impact. Racism against any race creed colour gender religion sexuality is just not acceptable, but I do agree the gesture has lost it's impact

I agree it’s completely lost it’s impact and unfortunately I see it more as an annoyance than what it’s meant to be for! I’m not racist in any way but it’s had it’s time

Think they have agreed to do it on a as and when needed basis. Make more of an impact they think rather than just doing it every game.

I heard on TV over here that it would be done for the first game of the season and some cup games.

Why is it an annoyance though, It literally is a few seconds before the whistle. I’ve seen Kick offs delayed longer for opposing players encroaching into opponents half before the ball is kicked. If they want to drop it fair enough, but why it is an annoyance puzzles me, apart from the obvious of course.

I agree. It’s a shame it’s lost it’s impact as I thought it was a great gesture. Quite a few black footballers stopped during last season saying the same thing.

I hope it’s educated a few people, although sadly I don’t have a great deal of faith in society at the moment.

I'm glad it's finished as I found it submissive and demeaning for those that might have done it just to not be labelled racist.

Anybody that does it for that reason alone deserves to feel demeaned frankly.

I do not see anyone saying it's annoying, it just simply lost it's impact.

Has it finished for EFL though? Premier League voted to stop it, not EFL.

A part of me thinks it needs to continue until people don't boo when it happens.

Why? Some will definitely have seen taking the knee as having lost it's value and lost faith in the act, but carried on doing it so as not to appear racist, even though they aren't racist themselves. That's an issue. And if one white guy in the team decided not to kneel because he felt it had lost its meaning, it would look very bad. But look at Wilfried Zaha, clearly not racist but stopped taking the knee. It didn't mean anything for him any more. He felt 'kneeling has just become a part of the pre-match routine and at the moment it doesn’t matter whether we kneel or stand, some of us still continue to receive abuse.' This is where the gesture has become a problem, because black and brown people still receive abuse and because white people decide other white people are racist (or worthy of being demeaned) if they don't take the knee and take part in what has now become, as Zaha points out, just another pre-match ritual.

I think the authorities need to think of other ways now to educate and bring people together, but kneeling isn't it. They also need to ban all racists (where proven to be). And if chanting of a racist nature is heard, find the culprits. And if you can't, play behind closed doors. Then people will start to pay attention.

Think the Premier League are doing the right thing ending the token gesture that long since lost its meaning.

Gestures like that don’t lose their meaning unless I’ve missed something and we do actually live in racial harmony.
