He's very self-aware, loves mentioning how 'boring' he is and how he'll punish people if theyre acting up by releasing more music etc. Made me laugh
Not particularly a fan of his music, but I've genuinely always had him down on my list of dream dinner guests. Honest. Seems a proper sound fella.
I don't understand why people hate him. I mean, his music isn't exactly my cup of tea either, but I could name a hundred worse artists than James Blunt if you gave me five minutes to think. Besides, he's pretty funny on Twitter. I love it when he winds up his haters, and how he doesn't take himself or his music too seriously.
I agree. He's extremely underrated. Very talented singer and songwriter and a great guy as far as I can tell.
For context this song was written after he discovered his dad had stage 4 kidney disease. Yes that's his dad next to him
Yeah, that's me. Elliott Smith might just be my favourite solo artist of all time. There's no one else like him, and it's crazy how talented he was - not just his unique style of songwriting, but I think he played all instruments on most of his songs too. He definitely died way too young.
I watched his beer brewing show and he was quite entertaining. That is as far as it will ever go, now.
I think we may be BBS kindred spirits (your response to the James Blunt post and your love for Elliott)! Elliott is also in my top two favourite solo artists of all time (the other one isn't Blunt by the way ). Have you seen Heaven Adores You, the film about Smith?
Heard this song a lot of times, and never fails to put a lump in the throat. One of the most emotional songs that exists.
I have seen him twice at the First Direct Arena in Leeds. Both times he was absolutely superb. He interacted with the audience, sent himself and made you laugh. He had the place rocking one moment then changed tempo and had you in tears the next.
All I can say , is I wish I could have sang to pappa before he went into a coma ,and to sit and hold his hand for 2 weeks watching him die. Lovely song thanks for sharing ,I'm not a James Blunt fan however this is a lovely song written and sung to pappa before he dies
If I held my Dad's hand on his death bed and sang to him. He'd probably say " I hope for Laura's sake tha f cu KS better than tha sings". It would probably finish him off . I once cleared a pub singing "He was a friend of mine" by the Byrd's in a capella.
