Stupid idea, IMO. This is still my immediate resource when I get back to the car after a game. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-62397375
Ha ha. Absolutely bizarre decision. Shows Zero understanding of football fans. They'll be banning Timerider next.
They seem to think everyone has a smart phone to get the results for themselves. Many people especially elderly don't bother with phones.
When my dad dropped his last archaic mobile down the loo, he went into a phone shop and demanded a phone that he could make calls on and text on only, no internet, no camera ....."I've got a computer and a camera if I want to do that"......that really flummoxed them....
Stupid but then again a lot of BBC sport coverage seems to prioritise interviews and punditry over actual sport coverage. Loads of people turn on to get the scores as they are driving home - cant really check them on your phone when behind the wheel - unless you are in the main car park at Barnsley of course then its no problem.
Totally bonkers decision. It's a news and sports radio station and therefore should report on the news and sport. The cynic in me fears the saved time will filled with trivial noise and comment or 'Bants' as I think it's called in the business.
I think somebody told me earlier that it's been cut so they can do a new live commentary at 17:30? Kind of makes sense in that case, but it's five minutes or so - no reason why they can't fit it in somewhere. They could do with five minutes' less buildup, or at the very least use Sports Extra for one of the two.
If you're in the club car park, you've time to catch the Radio 4 shipping forecast before you start moving.
I have alwauys been a staunch supporter of the BBC but which “suit” thought of this one? Whoever it is does not understand the average football fan. The EFL continues to be marginalised in favour of the Premier League. Bring on the European Super League so domestic football can be returned to proper supporters.
True story from Saturday - I was walking through the car park just after the match down to Pontefract Rd and there was a guy in the queue standing up leaning out of his car looking forward and saying to his passengers he couldn't see why they weren't moving. I told him the cars couldn't leave until the fans had dispersed so it would be at least another 10 mins before anyone moved. He thought I was winding him up - he really didn't believe me
