"Reds Chief Executive Officer, Khaled El-Ahmad, was happy to get this deal over the line and is looking forward to a strong commercial relationship moving ahead." this must be a last minute thing .......... strange to have an announcement with not even so much as an accompanying snippet of a shirt?
He's got quite the colourful past according to some of the articles I read. Also, not his real name according to said articles.
In all seriousness, I believe the Oakwell hierarchy would value immensely from some NED's to impart business acumen and provide a sounding board outside a very small echo chamber. Given Gally was pretty much the first to comment from an aspect of concern and risk, I don't think this can be judged as anyone having biased pot shots. There are clear ethical, financial and reputational risks at play.
From the BFC article "HEX is the world's first certificate of deposit on the blockchain, with 100% flawless uptime since launch in 2019. HEX is a crypto-currency that brings banking products such as CD´s and time deposits onto the blockchain with no counterparty risk, putting you in control of your wealth."
This is almost every crypto coin if you take a three month read though so they'll move with the market. Rebounded fairly significantly recently but now stagnant the last 2/3 weeks.
As long as the money’s been paid up front and it’s in the bank I’m not massively concerned at the morals. Never been one that has bought into the moral argument against sponsorship from betting firms and the like. I mean the last main shirt sponsor was a company who could be argued hoovered up cheaper housing stock in the area and left it more expensive for people to find accommodation - there’s a moral argument against most things. And as for the sponsorship leading to people trying or using the product - I mean that is the point I guess and no I’m not rushing out to buy crypto coins from a suspected Ponzi scheme - but unless we got offered a couple of million from M&S The Best Purple Sprouting Broccoli - what type of company is acceptable? Have we ever had a morally acceptable one? All the way back to Lyon’s cakes you can make an argument against all of them in one context or another. My criteria for a sponsor is simply whoever offers the most money that isn’t a proven criminal. (With that said, I can see this logo being off the shirt before next May…!!) I repeat though, I hope they’ve paid up front. Otherwise we won’t see it.
All I can say is I am glad I didnt go for a shirt this year. Wouldnt want to walk around advertising Hex from what I have just read - Its even worse than Vodka Kick. Must admit I hadnt heard of them before today though
As long as they don’t bring back Big Thing... It was bad enough with my late teen moderate rotundness - but if I had that across my nearly 40 year old dad gut on my 3xl (maybe 4xl this year, I’ve heard they’re even smaller fitting than last year) shirt I don’t think anyone could not piss themselves laughing
Totally this. No matter how many times I attempt to get through that paragraph my brain just gives up trying to decipher any meaning partway through. With regard to the sponsorship deal, my only strong view is that I hope we've been paid up front for it. Gut feel is that we'll one day be talking about Hex.com alongside the FPW and Big Thing deals, but we'll see.
That is literally the face I pull when I hear people talk about cryptocurrency and NTFs. Won’t pretend I know a lot about companies like these, because I don’t. I just know a lot of people have lost thousands if not millions to these sort of companies. A quick google search shows you they don’t exactly have a glowing reputation! It’s essentially gambling but in a very nerdy way. F’ked if I know?!
I’ll be honest, I have no idea what crypto is but just looking at the replies to the tweet announcing it makes me slightly uneasy. I wonder if we’ll still have it on our shirts come next May…
