    Is it not at least arguable that their input should be considered? Remember - arguable doesn't mean likely to succeed or a good argument, just not entirely baseless.

    Based on my understanding I consider the decision to withdraw treatment to be correct, but I also support the family's right to challenge the decision.

    For me, I think it's a heart breaking situation for the parents to be in. My deepest sympathies go out to them and any other parents who have been through this awful situation. I honestly don't know how I would react in this position.

    Totally agree. I think people are very naive if they think they know how they would react in this situation. I completely understand why they are doing it, but I believe in the medics.

    We trusted the medical professionals 100% when it came/comes to the help, care & advice for our daughter.

    I wonder how many people 1000,s ? every day are in the same position just in the U.K
    and if every one of them took the same approach
    the system would i presume just grind to a halt and there would be chaos for obvious reasons ,no staff or free beds, leading to other deaths etc


    Can all decisions be challenged or is this just a exceptional one ?
    i am sure most of us have at some point or will at some point be told by a hospital staff member
    there's nothing else we can do for your loved one
    now its just a case of end of life care
    we all i guess accept that although its very hard and you always think there still a chance or a miracle could happen

    but is it the case you don't have to accept that and you can challenge them to continue to try and help them even if on the face of it there is no hope.
    all the way through to the courts if you decide to and have the money

    I would assume anyone can legally challenge a decision yes. I suppose most don't and as such the system doesn't grid to a halt.
    I fully understand why they are challenging it. I dare say the fight itself is keeping them going in some way. Its truly heartbreaking.
