a decent club would have been able to sell 2 full internationals playing at a decent level one of whom finished in the team of the season despite relegation for 8-10 million. That alongside with the sake of one striker to reduce the wage bill should have been sufficient.

For reasons unknown we are incapable of getting a decent market value for any of our players.

We should be selling players to plug a financial gap. That shouldn’t involve 7-8 first team regulars.

i don’t notice Rotherham feeling the need to sell their entire first team every time they are relegated but they still manage to balance their books better than us.

So if we are incapable of keeping up with Peterborough who are we benchmarking against Cheltenham or is that too ambitious.

in theory I agree with you but I can’t think of any clubs that have done. Either they’re Sunderland/Wednesday sized clubs who somehow manage to keep funding 30k a week for Aiden McGeady/Barry Bannan, or their best players leave to go back up a level for limited money. You can’t compare Rotherham or Peterborough as they never spaffed a load of cash over 3 seasons on complete wastes of money.

I might be wrong but I thought £6m was the cost of relegation in terms of TV money etc irrespective of any spaffing. In other words, aren't all 3 relegated clubs £6m down plus loss in gate receipts, income from merchandising etc

well therein the problem lies. Abject financial management leaves us depleted to the extent that a bottom 8 finish looks likely without significant recruitment.

In fairness. We have consistently failed to achieve a decent return in players stretching back to Patrick’s tenure. The only one that looked about right was Mawson who I believe we got around 5 million for (and who isn’t as good as Helik).

That was my understanding If those teams manage to bridge the gap without selling their entire first team then why can’t we has to be the question.

According to this thread Peterborough have no one to sell. Fair enough. So you’d expect them to lose 6-8 million this year.

The loss in revenue from TV, gate receipts etc between L1 and Championship is about £5m, though this will vary between clubs. We lost nearly £4.3m in 2020-21 while we were in the Championship. That was with a wage bill of £14.4m. That was before we signed Oulare. The wage bill at the end of last season may (likely will) have been even bigger. The £8m figure was a rough estimate combining the drop in revenue and the ongoing loss the club was posting. We may have to recoup far more than £8m to offset those losses and to service the club's debts. People talking about competing with Forest Green & Cheltenham - if they had the financial millstone that we do they would go under. Once the balance sheet is in the black we can look to improve, but we have crippled ourselves with the money we have wasted.

I asked you a question because you have a problem with how we are doing things. You don't reply by asking a further question, you answer the initial question. I don't have a problem so why are you asking me further questions?

It's fine people moaning but unless anyone has a viable alternative it is pointless kicking off about it.

My solution would be to not financially mismanage the club in the first place. Radical I know.

From where we are obtain correct market for Styles and Helik. Two current internationals for reasonable teams. Should wipe out the debt.

I get that it’s easy for you to ‘happy clap’ the ‘new owners’ but it’s reasonable to look at other clubs of a similar size such as Peterborough and Rotherham and ask how they manage to make up the 6-8 million shortfall without selling the bulk of their first team. You may think we are the best run club in football. And that we cannot learn any lessons from anyone else. That’s your choice.

It’s your view that we cannot hope to compete with Peterborough it’s a reasonable question to ask who you do think we can with.

Didn't Neerav say we'd spent about the same as Luton, but they had just spent there's better. Going to take a couple of seasons to turn around is this. Don't think we'll be bottom 8, but I can't see top 6 ether. But its still too early to tell.. But with the disjointed squad we have.. it's also way too early to be going as far as Plymouth to watch us.
