Picture the scene. The sun is beaming down on Oakwell. The FanZone is busy. Happy faces almost everywhere. And the tip off that the James Norwood signing will be announced exclusively by Dave Cooper on the FanZone stage. Being the PR opportunists that we are, why not make Norwood BFCST's sponsored player for the season, get Dave to announce it at the time of signing, kudos in the bank, stardom, etc. Record breaking sales day, a £1,300 donation to Barnsley Pals, £100 to Andrew Clark's cycle to Plymouth, and we've sponsored the new striker on the day he signs. Genius. Fast forward to this morning and we discover we've broken a bond that goes beyond football. James Norwood is now no longer sponsored by James Norwood (a Brentford fan living in California). After our James Norwood (it does get confusing) and BFC make us aware of this, we rightly had to stand down. I just hope the player we do end up sponsoring doesn't feel like they're a consolation prize or second best!
Read it this morning, what a bizzare story. But good on the BFCST for stepping aside. I hear Oulare's left ass cheek is available to sponsor
And you mate. Hopefully the first of many meet ups once I've been convinced on getting a season pass!
Me neither. I'm not sure I'd like it if a namesake sponsored me wherever I went. In fact, scratch that, I'd hate it. "Will you kindly just f*** the f*** off thank you very much."
Do they still do kit sponsorship then? Why don't we do one from the BBS? It would be well worth it just for the decision making process of who it should be. But seriously, one of the youngsters maybe?
Could do. Do we think we'd raise enough? Could have a raffle at the end to see who gets the shirt. How much is it this year @Loko the Tyke ?
I watched a good Ipswich vlog yesterday about him. He sounds like he's going to be a very good addition but brings with him a penchant for being pretty colourful off the pitch. Like you say. Could be interesting.
