They could have picked a better place. I went to the Trust event there and could hear sod all. The acoustics are abysmal.
You are right, it makes you wonder why they bother at all, they announce that they are going to give up their time to speak to the fans but the first response is to moan , if I was them I would cancel it & enjoy their free time with their families .
Tbf. I went to the last one. And apart from a couple of mike malfunctions. It was ok and I was near the back. But I would have thought the legends suite would have been better to get more in. Saying that. The last one I attended there was overshadowed by some folk talking in earshot. The ones that spoke up but wouldn't listen to owt else bar their own questions.
Interesting that you don't rate the acoustics given it's a live music venue. I've attended multiple types of events there and it's always bob on for me. I sat at the back for the Adie Moses/Neil Thompson gig and could hear every word. Sorry to hear it wasn't up to scratch from your side as that's a shame.
Nothing wrong with the venue but our club know there is more than one venue in Barnsley that would benefit from these kind of things I hope. I don't think one venue should have the monopoly on them all.
Where in the town centre has a big enough function room? There's obviously WMCs like East Dene who would hold such an event but the Garrison is the best venue in the town centre.
Acoustics. There's a difference between some musician banging out music and someone trying to explain balance sheets. Several of us questioned the sound on the night.
I honestly thought the executive area at oakwell would have been more than big enough to deal with anything we need and provide much needed funds for the club too. Doesn't the club hold over 200 people? Or even on a hot summers evening they could host events in the stands themselves couldn't they? A stage on the pitch, refreshment stands and bars open etc. It'd be a goldmine
It was also a famous Racehorse ridden by Mark Pitman. It was famous for being collared late on in the Grand National.
